freitasm (444970) writes "The New Zealand Transport Agency is tracking Bluetooth devices to measure travel times in roads around the country. "The platform tracks anonymous Bluetooth devices such as mobile phones, headsets and in-car navigation systems as they travel in New Zealand, and uses this information to identify travel times and route preference." The same technology was also deployed at Auckland Airport to monitor pedestrian traffic and passenger delays, including during the 2011 Rugby World Cup."
