Every day, I get an email from NSPE about engineering in the news, which usually has a section of stories about US corporations lamenting about not enough native-born students getting STEM degrees, so they really need more and more H-1B visas issued.

This is and always has been about greed pigs preferring to hire compliant, desperate people that are more than willing to work a dollar for a dime's pay. And the odd, occasional industrial espionager from the mainland? Just the affordable cost of doing low-wage business. (3. Profit!)
