An anonymous reader writes "Earlier today, NVIDIA announced the GeForce GTX Titan. As NVIDIA's latest top-end graphics card, the Titan carries a hefty $1,000 price tag, making it equal the company's current dual-GPU flagship, the GeForce GTX 690. Packing an insane 7.1 billion transistors, Titan is based on the GK110 GPU which was unveiled back in November for the workstation market. With this pedigree, the GeForce GTX Titan is expected bring NVIDIA closer to AMD in general compute performance for the consumer market.
As this is just the initial announcement, all the usual suspects have first impressions posted, with benchmark results soon to come: AnandTech, HotHardware, PCPer, and Tom's Hardware."
