brgomeistr (165406) writes "Today the white house responded to the whitehouse.gov petition requesting free access to journal articles published using public funding. The white house director of the office of science and technology issued a memorandum requiring federal agencies that fund scientific research to require that results be publicly available 12 months after initial publication in a scientific journal."
