Freshly Exhumed (105597) writes "Some 16-year-olds are content to blast away at digital foes in video games. Arjun Nair prefers taking aim at cancer cells. The 16-year-old Calgary student has developed a very promising therapy that involves injecting cancer cells with gold nano-particles – tiny clusters of gold atoms that can be engineered to accumulate around tumour cells. His work, estimated by academics to be at the level of a senior Masters student or Ph.D candidate, has earned him a prestigious Sanofi BioGENEius Challenge Canada science award."
