DeviceGuru (1136715) writes "Red Pitaya has launched a Kickstarter campaign to build an open source Linux-based measurement and control single-board computer. The $359 Red Pitaya can replace thousands of dollars worth of test equipment, and will initially ship with smartphone apps for oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, waveform generator, frequency response analyzer, and PID controller functions. The board is based on a Xylinx Zynq-7020 SoC, containing dual ARM Cortex-A9 cores plus an FPGA, and has expansion connectors for various add-on modules. It will be supported by an 'apps bazaar' from which users can install free apps, as well as by a repository containing its open source code and tools for developing applications."
