IBM plans to combine Trusteer’s Tel Aviv office with IBM’s research and development facilities to build a cybersecurity lab in Israel with over 200 researchers focusing on mobile and application security, malware, fraud and financial crime."

Follow the money.. (1)

This tells me that at least IBM or an IBM sponsor (insert TLA) has discovered how much money and other risk is involved.

I suspect that this is a good thing but wonder what the other big players in this game are up to. It is apparently that the big G is funding one research project with Microsoft security and bug bounties.

Of interest to me is the multi language abilities in Israel compared to CONUS. Language seems to have as much a value in this as programming language skills because the players seem to span the globe. The common variety smart US university graduate has modest English skills at best and has no chance in a global crime and fraud community.

So good for IBM, I think. But only the future will tell.
