Gearoid_Murphy (976819) writes "The US military has shown for the first time a heat ray gun which will be used to subdue crowds of unruly punters. I presume this system works off some kind of microwave physics, quite a change of tactics from the early assurances from the US that they would be welcomed in the streets of Iraq. The full story is at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6297149.stm. Also on the same site is a story about how the US military has developed artificial black ice for foiling any classic chase scenes : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6295567. stm. Its good to see that the .5 thrillion dollar budget is being put to good use, who needs hospitals when you've got black ice?"
