notyou2 (202944) writes "In all the craziness surrounding the recent announcement of the Google Lunar X-Prize, one fact seems to have become buried: Google Moon got a major update. We've lost the infamous cheese, but we've gained vastly better base imagery, new scientific charts, text search over thousands of named craters, and in-depth stories detailing every step of every Apollo landing. It even includes Street View-style panoramas! The New Moon was a collaboration between the pair that did Google Mars and some NASA Ames researchers."
