NewsCloud writes "FCC chairman Kevin Martin moved forward his plan for public hearings on media consolidation rules as reported by Slashdot earlier by granting just five days notice for the hearing in Seattle tonight. Prior to serving as FCC chair, Martin was Deputy General Counsel to Bush-Cheney 2000 and the Bush-Cheney recount team in Florida."

Prior to serving as FCC chair, Martin was Deputy General Counsel to Bush-Cheney 2000 and the Bush-Cheney recount team in Florida.

Well, I'm certain that makes him a tower of competency and accountability, doesn't it?

Figure out what decision will screw the public hard and favor big contributors and party members.

Expect that decision.

Democratic Comm. Michael Copp Held Q&A Today O (1)

newscloud (1037538) | more than 6 years ago | (#21301615)

Democratic FCC Commissioner Copp offered up an interesting online Q&A [nwsource.com] ahead of tonight's hearing:

"I think the danger is when just a few companies are controlling the gateways and the content that we see every day on teleivison, contrary thoughts and other perspectives get lost. That's been costly for us! Further consolidation can only make a bad problem worse. ... I think that my colleagues are generally sincere in what they believe. It's not that they are bad people; it's just that their mind-sets lead to some very bad results. I believe they are wrong on the merits of the argument, but I try not to impugn anyone's motives."
