Most obvious reason... (1)

Would be the lack of a keyboard. The only reason I kept playing EverQuest so long after I found the game to be /very/ boring, was the social aspect of it. It pretty much became a graphical chat-room that I paid a monthly fee for. Without a keyboard, the ability to communicate in a console MMORPG is greatly limited, especially for the 'shooting the shit' type of chat. Headsets are great for raids / groups, but not so much for "sitting semi-AFK in a town chatting with friends while watching TV in the background" *note: I quit my MMORPG addictions years ago when realized how silly the above was. But, many, many, many people still do it :)
