Best Wi-fi Portable Browsing Device?

Portables 3

foxxo writes "I'm a library worker, so I get lots of questions about our collection when I'm out in the stacks. I'd love to be able to access our online catalog and give patrons more comprehensive guidance without directing them to the reference desk. What options are available for a portable device with wi-fi connectivity, full-featured web browsing, and (most importantly) no cellphone-style activation and service fees? Size is important, too; I need something I can carry in my pocket, not a micro-notebook with full keyboard. (And I am a library worker, so low cost is key!)"

The Nokia Tablets (0)

Anonymous Coward | more than 5 years ago | (#27108071)

The Nokia N810 Internet Tablet fits my bill. Wifi, Bluetooth, full Firefox 3-based browser, media player, etc. The browser's a little slow, but otherwise the device is fantastic for me. The N810 also has a slide-out thumbboard, and GPS, and supports up to 32GB in its Mini-SD slot.

I should probably add that you can find the N810 ~250USD on the Internet. Earlier models (sans keyboard, GPS, and using full-sized SD slots) can be had cheaper, used.

How about bolting a notebook computer to the reshelving cart?
