Wrong. <quote>Tor helps to reduce the risks of both simple and sophisticated traffic analysis by distributing your transactions over several places on the Internet, so no single point can link you to your destination.</quote> https://www.torproject.org/about/overview

Programming Languages You'll Need Next Year (and Beyond)

AcerbusNoir Re: IT security wanna-bees, take note (315 comments)

PHP has received a lot of grief because inexperienced developers implemented poor and insecure code. It's not a fault of PHP - no more than it would be the fault of C for every buffer overflow exploit.

Should programming be a required curriculum in public schools?

AcerbusNoir No - it would do more harm than good. (313 comments)

Not in the USA anyway. The current educational system is too flawed for this to be even a viable option. Not everyone is cut out to learn this type of skill. Should car mechanics be a required class too? I'm a programmer and car mechanics are a whole different beast that I can't wrap my mind around. I'd image those who are skilled mechanics can share the same sentiment about programming.

My son's school has both electives and that's where programming should remain.

Why You Can't Pry IE6 Out of Their Cold, Dead Hands

AcerbusNoir No IE6 support = lost revenue for ecom companies (416 comments)

As a senior web developer for an ecommerce company, we're required to ensure anything we develop will work with IE6. While < 10% of our visitors use IE6, those are still potential customers. Should they upgrade? Of course they should. Do I like having to test and tweak my code to ensure IE6 compatibility? It's definitely not the highlight of my day... but if it helps the company in the long run then it's worth a little extra hassle on my part.
