A Look At Google's Email Spam Prevention

Aehgts Re:But what about spam from "me"? (176 comments)

One amusingly annoying anecdote about this: Emails sent to me by ticking the 'Send me a copy of this email' box when sharing Google Reader articles were put in my spam folder.

Italian Red Lights Rigged With Short Yellow Light

Aehgts Re:Well here in Georgia (353 comments)

But I have seen some other areas do a thing which I thought was odd at first, but makes sense. That is they have a one to two second 4 way red between swapping the roads that are given the green.

This is standard practice here in Sydney (Oz). There is an all red that is usually long enough to clear the intersection of any cars that run the orange before the next green is given.
This seems to be the most sensible way of doing things.

Apple Awarded Patent For iPhone Interface

Aehgts Re:Basic touch screen plus Firefox mouse gestures? (449 comments)

Your argument definately has merit: I use these gestures with a tablet laptop[0]. This probably at least similar to the single finger section of the patent.

[0] The Opera Browser introduced integrated mouse gestures in version 5.10 back in April 2001, though I didn't get a tablet until '03.

MTV Launches Music Video Site

Aehgts Re:Is it me, or is the music quality really bad? (192 comments)

Example: Try to listen to Tori Amos Winter
http://www.mtvmusic.com/video/?id=47577
And then compare to the youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnboUbOGDOM

The Mtv version got a really bad 'noice' in the background in the beginning of the song.
Or maybe it's just a problem with their player and Linux.

I hear the marked difference in the audio quality between the two also, so it is not just you.

Of course it may not be MTV after all: as nocsript shows:

"franchise=FakeFranchise" ... really?

Techers Credit Union Using Security Tokens for Online Access

Aehgts Aehgts writes  |  about 7 years ago Mum received a letter from the Teachers Credit Union offering a 'first one's free' deal on a security token for online access. Seems this type of key is trickling down into the masses at last. This one is offered by Australia Post as announced back in February; FTA:
This low-cost, secure and convenient service enables financial institutions to implement strong, multi-factor, one time password (OTP) security tokens for online banking authentication.
http://www.auspost.com.au/BCP/0,1467,CH4453%257EMO19,00.html

From the Credit Union description:
"Teachers Credit Union has introduced one time password technology to further protect internet banking users. A one time password is generated by a security token which provides an extra layer of security to protect your accounts against fraudulent activity.
A security token generates a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds from a million possible combinations. You can order a security token in internet banking (in the Other menu then select Security Options) and for a limited time, it's free of charge."
