New Wii Menu Update Targets Homebrew Again

Aklyon Re:As a Wii Owner (258 comments)

piracy uses different things.
the guys who made the homebrew channel deliberately made it hard for the pirates to use their stuff.
Nintendo should focus on the piracy and leave the homebrewers alone!

Apple Facing New Antitrust Investigation

Aklyon Re:Maybe (241 comments)

All of them void the warranty.

You actually saw legalese on the warranty of your iDevice? all I saw was "F you, Now pay for a replacement part or pay for a replacement iDevice. Or you could use some other mp3 player, but none of them will work with iTunes so you're stuck with us anyway!"

"I don't think piracy will be so widespread for many more years."

You are a idiot. the Internet is not a linear path, its a network. You can't block an entire network when it spans the entire world. The **AA Utter Idiots also don't seem to understand the Streisand Effect, the more you block/hide something the more people will want it, and more sites will pop up. Its like chasing a racehorse by riding a slug; They will never succeed totally.

File Sharing Remains a Perk of College Life

Aklyon Re:not going to work (288 comments)

These corporations cannot on one hand screech that it's a "free market" and that they "serve only their shareholders" when committing price gouging, mass layoffs without dire need, subsidizing their low pay with public welfare, and other such actions, and then turn around and demand protection from that very "free market" when it renders them obsolete. Can't have that one both ways.

Hollywood is scared of the market it been ripping off since the internet stole control from it? that makes sense, the known con man will flee while the unknown will stay.

File Sharing Remains a Perk of College Life

Aklyon Re:But they're making it easier (288 comments)

a wall built?, you can find someone to smash it.
annoying "protection"? you can easily get around it if you look in the right places.
mandated spyware? easily tricked, eventually.
The Streisand Effect.

If you deny it, it will become more interesting, whether you want it to or not. They need to learn this.

Aklyon Patent Value? pfft. (949 comments)

I thought copyrights, patents and trademarks had value.

You obviously don't pay attention to these things. if they actually had value or worth, the MAFIAA, Hollywood, and a few stupid game companies wouldn't know how stupid DRM is because it wouldn't exist, and the MAFIAA wouldn't be called that because their job wouldn't be to sue people, it would be whatever its supposed to be.

What Free Antivirus Do You Install On Windows?

Aklyon Re:Uh...Avast? (896 comments)

For your friends and family: get them macs. They will have a much harder time installing 53 flavors of solitaire filled with adware.

And when they want to play something that's Windows-only? what do you tell them? "sorry, get another computer"?

Senator Calls American Politics 'Dysfuntional'

Aklyon Aklyon writes  |  more than 4 years ago

Aklyon (1398879) writes "In an interview on MSNBC this morning, newly retiring Sen. Evan Bayh declared the American political system "dysfunctional," riddled with "brain-dead partisanship" and permanent campaigning. Flatly denying any possibility that he'd seek the presidency or any other higher office, Bayh argued that the American people needed to deliver a "shock" to Congress by voting incumbents out in mass and replacing them with people interested in reforming the process and governing for the good of the people, rather than deep-pocketed special-interest groups."
