BitCoin, the Most Dangerous Project Ever?

B4light Re:Tabloid trash (858 comments)

Go ahead and try to generate some bitcoins economically then. Protip: You can't, some can. The more are generated, the harder it is to generate them.

Sizing Up the Daedalus Interstellar Spacecraft

B4light Re:Space and Sails (191 comments)

No, you can't steer at relativistic speeds. The LHC uses tremedously powerful magnets to steer protons around a 20km track at near the speed of light, you won't be steering your spaceship at 0.5c

Sizing Up the Daedalus Interstellar Spacecraft

B4light Re:Space and Sails (191 comments)

Why not just use all of the sail so you can get there faster, and if the other star has less stellar pressure, just use even more sail when you're there to slow down.

Sizing Up the Daedalus Interstellar Spacecraft

B4light Re:Space and Sails (191 comments)

A 1 second signal broadcast at .99999c would take us 100000 seconds to read. It's kind of annoying, but you only have to deal with that while it's travelling for the 6 years between the stars. Hopefully it would slow down to normal planet orbiting speeds.

NoScript pretty much breaks the entire Internet and AdBlock Plus already blocks the ads, so I don't see why you need it.

Intel Insider DRM Risks Monopoly Investigations

B4light Re:Umm.... what? (217 comments)

Actually, you're right, the blu-ray in encrypted, so if you didn't have the DRM decoder installed, then you would be having problems. The DRM code lets you play your copy-protected discs, and doesn't care about regular video files. The only problem you would ever experience is when you try to be the original pirate for the video, which every consumer doesn't need to do. Someone somewhere will be able to circumvent the copy-protection, and then someone will upload the video, so really there's no problem for anyone except the media companyies. (They do get 3 or 4 years of actual copy-protection before it breaks sometimes, which is pretty good because I don't like to wait that long before watching my movies)

Sandy Bridge Motherboards Dissected, Compared

B4light Re:Missing Story Tag : DRM (143 comments)

Yes, this is what we need, 16 equally sized cores is useless, and having 1 large core and 8 parallel cores would have much better performance results than trying to use Turbo Boost. There is the problem of trying to tell the consumer about the configuration of the CPU, but the benefits outweigh the losses of not being able to say 16-core.

Intel Insider DRM Risks Monopoly Investigations

B4light Re:Umm.... what? (217 comments)

You would have problems if you were trying to play the video from a retail BD-rom disc, but you are more than likely watching .avi or .mkv files encoded with H.264 or xVid codecs, which have none of these problems and will remain unaffected by intel's new DRM instruction.

'No Refusal' DUI Checkpoints Coming To Florida?

B4light Re:Why would you refuse a breathalyzer? (1219 comments)

Yea, but for most PEOPLE, it is not, because they live in cities and didn't choose to live in some location given to them by a random longitude and latitude generator.
