Very, very delusional and very, very self aggrandizing. You see it in every topic.

3D-Printed Car Takes Its First Test Drive

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:it's means it is (132 comments)

Can they print a car body as quickly as the company did in the article? Have they?

If not, then that's the point.
If they have, then well the story sucks as much as everyone says it does.

Step back from the myopic meaningless look at the details, and see how the small dots form the larger picture.

3D-Printed Car Takes Its First Test Drive

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:it's means it is (132 comments)

No one said you couldn't. But no one has previous printed such a large piece, so precise, and so fast. Its an engineering milestone, not the discovery of radioactivity.

If todays geeks were alive to see the first model t the'd be bitching about how much better other cars were, and how it was nothing new. The new-ness is how it was made and how cheaply it was made.

Direct Sales OK Baked Into Nevada's $1.3 Billion Incentive Deal With Tesla

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:Why is this legal in the U.S.? (149 comments)

These are state taxes. As such, its up to each individual state to determine. I suppose its possible that some states do not do this, however the whole reason why it is done is due to competition amount the states for employers.

DNA sequencing of coffee's best use:

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:Scientific curiosity (228 comments)

I apologize, if it wasn't obvious that my post was in jest, a mild amusement over the psychological and physical addiction to caffeine.

Coffee tastes good, and its a morning ritual. I could just as easily drink tea, or yoga, or bobsled. Coffee seems to be more readily available and socially acceptable at work .

Ask Slashdot: What Smartwatch Apps Could You See Yourself Using?

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:Essential (471 comments)

And with in that clock app, I should be able to choose the back ground to be generated by the app of my choosing.

So maybe my twitter feed changes every 10 s or so, maybe texts pop up in the back ground for a sec or two givng me the oppretunity to look at them and full, and send back a cave drawing indicating where the buffalo are.

Mozilla 1024-Bit Cert Deprecation Leaves 107,000 Sites Untrusted

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:FTFA (67 comments)

"So are you saying that money buys trust"

No.

"The whole SSL ecosystem is based on the fact that you can absolutely trust the certificate authorities."

No, it isn't. Trust is not absolute. Learn this. Please.

DNA sequencing of coffee's best use:

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:I *like* Robusta coffees! (228 comments)

The fancy Nespresso coffee pods also use Robusto in blend with arabicas, and a few are pure Robusto. They certainly can be good. In Haiti, they have some Robustos that I would drink every day, If I could get a source in the states.

Mozilla 1024-Bit Cert Deprecation Leaves 107,000 Sites Untrusted

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:FTFA (67 comments)

I really don't understand people's hang up with the fee. Certs are cheap as hell. I understand they don't really do that much to verify any one's identity, but its so freaking cheap.

How much abuse is there with fake certificates being issued? I've only heard about a couple of cases. Its better than nothing, and certainly worth the small amount of money.

Mozilla 1024-Bit Cert Deprecation Leaves 107,000 Sites Untrusted

Bill, Shooter of Bul FTFA (67 comments)

“All major browsers will alert users of a site using an expired certificate, and of the 107k affected, only 30k were not expired, and so would no longer be trusted by Mozilla as a result of their recent change,”

So not 107K, only 30k. And that's not a real issue. The browsers are correct, the connection isn't secure at 1024. People can complain as much as they want, trust is not something that is eternally granted without condition.

You Got Your Windows In My Linux

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:Troll much? (613 comments)

Exactly. SystemD is more than just init, but not all of it is in PID 1. The whole desktop thing is just crazy. Its pretty clear thats as accurate as crazy tea partiers who think Obama is a Muslim. No rigor, no research, no thought from those people.

Now there may be some very legitimate complains about systemd. However, they get drowned out by the BS. It would also help if someone who doesn't like SystemD to actually work on an alternative Services management system that solved some of the same problems that systemD does.

US Government Fights To Not Explain No-Fly List Selection Process

Ah, the old, If this secret would be revlealed then the populace would rise up, idea.

Of course most people won't care. I don't. I know what they are doing and why. I wouldn't do things exactly as they are, but I'm not that upset over what they are doing to activley try and change anything.

Anita Sarkeesian, Creator of "Tropes vs. Women," Driven From Home By Trolls

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:Slashdot comments indicative of the problem (1262 comments)

If you accuse her of doing it, you still look terrible by claiming that abuse doesn't exist. It does. I don't think anyone wins, here.

Except those that honestly acknowledge problems and resolve to make things better using the resources at their disposal.

Bill, Shooter of Bul Re:Slashdot comments indicative of the problem (1262 comments)

No, he's not asking if you stopped beating your wife. He's asking you" why do you beat your wife? " While the question presupposes guilt ( entirely justified in this case as the first few comments are proof), it does not force you into a situation where any valid reply forces your admission to the presupposed crime.

Bill, Shooter of Bul Bill, Shooter of Bul writes  |  more than 4 years ago

One of the worst things they've done to this site. I have *Friends* on facebook. I don't want them to know how much of a nerd I am. Furthermore, the slashdot stories aren't stories, they're summaries about stories. If I was going to post something about the topic to facebook, i would just link the source.

Negitive feedback

Bill, Shooter of Bul Bill, Shooter of Bul writes  |  more than 6 years ago

I've gotten a couple posts questioning the validity of my attempted humor. Some people really don't think I'm that funny. It only takes three different mods to hit +5 funny, and I myself have seen a few other people have posted that aren't that funny. In any case, I am my own worst critic. Several ones I've posted I didn't think deserve any attention at all. So, in the future, I'll try and limit myself even further, to truly post only what is really funny, rather than some things that I think might be funny.

For those who are annoyed with my sense of humor, just be glad I was filtering out a good 80% of what I thought to post. You're seeing what I consider to be the top 20% of my humor. I'll try and tighten that down to at least 10%.

Still confused about Freaks.

Bill, Shooter of Bul Bill, Shooter of Bul writes  |  more than 9 years ago I realise that every journal I've ver written is about freaks. Sorry, but I'm fasinated by them. Recently, I got two more. I'm just curious why anyone marks anyone as a freak. Anyone know? Any of my new freaks care to elaborate as to why they decided I was a Foe? I try to restrain myself from flaiming or posting anything too ofensive. If there is something I really feal strongly about that might offend someone I'll post it anyway, but I'll try to do so as clearly and logically as possible. I understand that everyone might not understand or agree with them, but I would think that they would respect the opinion and the manner it was presented in. Or do people just use Foes to demark those they disagree with? I understand using it for Trolls or those truely offensive, but why use it to censor those you disagree with? Are they so sure of themselves that they could never be wrong on an issue? Or are they afraid that they will read a well reasoned argument that makes them change their mind? Let me know, will you.
