Google Considered Too Big To Fail

BlackCobra43 Re:Most should not have been bailed out. (366 comments)

Your post is an oasis of rationality in a wasteland of "OBAMA'S COMMUNISM MIND RAYS CAUSED THE GREAT DEPRESSION". I only wish I could both tell you and mod you up.

Supreme Court Rolls Back Corporate Campaign Spending Limits

BlackCobra43 Re:Welcome to Fascism (1070 comments)

Fascism's single greatest achievement is convincing the world it doesn't actually exist. Hell, that's basically the entire game plan once fascism is installed - deny the people the chance to ever publicly acknowledge their situation, quashing dissent and revolution before they can even begin.

Who CARES if it's not a textbook Mussolini-style fascist state yet?

How is this insightful? It could apply to literally ANY login and/or password system. Managers have powers over the things they manage? Really? I hadn't the faintest!

Revisiting the "Holy Trinity" of MMORPG Classes

BlackCobra43 Re:Tbh, these definitions need to be dropped. (362 comments)

So, if I understand the crux of your argument, mmorpgs are ludicrous because they don't reflect accurately the life of a typical middle age soldier.

Let's run down that checklist

-Enslaved (serfdom) to your liege
-Likely to die/sustain long term damage from any wound sustained, no matter how minor
-Underequipped (only the liege`s knights get any armor at all
Gee, that sure sounds like the life I'd want to play in MY fantasy! Your arguments, while true, are completly irrelevant because nobody plays a fantasy game for realism. This is not a **** re-enactement of Ye Olde Dragone Slayinge.

The Science Credibility Bubble

BlackCobra43 Re:How to restore healthy debate (1747 comments)

Yes, if all it takes to mess up the entire global climate for over a year is a single sufficient volcano eruption, what are the odds that 6,000,000,000+ humans working together to belch toxic fumes into the air every single day could have any impact whatsoever. Ridiculous.

You are either a troll or hilariously obtuse.

Valve's Newell On Community-Funded Games

BlackCobra43 Re:I'm doing this right now, at a nice profit (176 comments)

Please consider the difference (in order of magnitudes) between Half-Life 2's budget and your game's. Now realize how it would translate in terms of number of people involved in the community financing. The answer to your (possibly rhetorical, my apologies in that case) question should become clear at this point.

DIY 18-ft.-High Robotic Exoskeleton

BlackCobra43 Re:Too big. (206 comments)

I like that idea. Maybe each member of the crew should operate a smaller, individual vehicle that can clamp onto the mecha's main structure, acting as its "arms" or "legs" or "head". Perhaps some sort of rallying cry would help synchronize the assembly process, something alongs the line of "VOLTROOOOOOOOOON"
