Why the Photos On Wikipedia Are So Bad

Blublu Muhc ado about nothing (572 comments)

If you are a celebrity and want Wikipedia to have a good photo of you, provide one with the appropriate license and stop bitching. Problem solved! If you can't provide a picture under a free license, don't complain when someone else puts up a crappy picture. There is no problem here.

Bethesda Releases Daggerfall For Free

Because of the way Morrowind is designed, playing it feels like walking through a fancy database.

Pirate Party Coming To Canada

Blublu Re:First Vote (394 comments)

Not only that, but did you know that a HUGE chunk of movie "costs" are to pay big-name actors? These celeb wages are just ridiculous, they could easily cut down a lot of costs by lowering their wages down to something reasonable, or using new actors that aren't as spoiled and greedy.

CrunchPad Will Be a 'Dead Simple Web Tablet'

Blublu Re:Wanna sell them like hot bread ? (145 comments)

Why stop there? Why not build a full-fledged home-control system. Control the lights, turn the TV on/off, lock/unlock the front door, etc, etc, etc. All from a neat web interface. (just make sure it's good and secure so someone won't start blinking your lights through the internet).

Why Game Exclusivity Deals Are Feeding the Hate

Blublu Re:Stupid article (205 comments)

I got fed up with this region crap long ago. You would have thought now that there's no technical reason to do this, they would want to serve their customers in the best way they could. Of course not. That's why there's NO FUCKING WAY I'm getting a PAL anything anymore. Oh and since I'm venting, I might as well say; dear Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. FUCK YOU RIGHT IN THE EYE SOCKET WITH A BIG FAT RUBBER DICK!

South Carolina To Give 1 Laptop Per School Child

Blublu Re:Suprises (279 comments)

To be honest, a fully functional 100 megahertz/ 16 megabyte machine today would be awesome. You don't really need a powerful machine for school-related work. Unless you're running intensive weather simulations or something. A 2009 laptop will work just as good in 2018, provided it doesn't break down.

However, it is true that you don't really need laptops for learning. Laptops are highly overrated for education in my opinion.

"Good Enough" Computers Are the Future

Blublu Re:Smart enough... (515 comments)

Too bad you get NO additional background pictures to choose from. You can of course use any picture you like, but by default, you have a choice between 1) the brown default picture or 2) solid brown. Would it really be so difficult to include maybe 5 different pictures?

I don't care what any grammar nazi says. It's just not logical. It doesn't make sense. Whoever who thought up that rule clearly hasn't programmed at all.

Disassembling the US Nintendo DSi

Blublu Re:Interesting (102 comments)

The DSi is to DS what Gameboy Micro is to the GBA; no more backwards compatibility, but a better screen. Personally, I would rather go for the DS lite which has only a tiny bit worse screen than DSi but still really good, and would recommend the same to everyone.

Researchers Identify Phantom Limb Brain Activity

Blublu Re:Randi again. . ? Oh my! (165 comments)

You would need an impartial observer to make such an experiment. Perhaps some kind of machine that can measure such a force? Then do the experiment with two groups, etc. If you do not have that, then there is absolutely no functional difference between such a "force" and faith/placebo. Unless of course if such a machine doesn't exist. So the problem isn't with science. It's that we don't yet have machines that can measure everything. When we understand consciousness better, we'll do experiments with that as well. Or would you prefer we all went with faith instead? That isn't science.

I don't know why you say that James Randi is not a man of science. Yes, I suspect that you do, as do I, perceive him as kind of cynical and dismissive of paranormal arguments. But then again, so would you be if you had been dealing with the world's biggest crazy nutty self-deluded crackpots for the last 50 years. And it doesn't really surprise me that no one won the prize. After all, it would be about the most important profound scientific discovery of recent times if it ever happened.
