Bot Tweets Anonymous Wikipedia Edits From Capitol Hill

Bobakitoo Re:In a week it'll need to be updated to @toredits (95 comments)

The point is that they wont be able to argue that TOR is a paedophile/terrorist tool and use that as a 'probable cause' to harasses and torture citizens.

Scientists Propose Collider That Could Turn Light Into Matter

Bobakitoo Re:Energy-matter synthesis (223 comments)

My first thought was 3d printer. Imagine deposing one atom tick layers of any element in any shape. eg; The Star Trek synthesiser.

But that wont happen because they'll ban the thing over irrational fear before the technology reach the point it can print a cup of earl grey.

Virtual Reality: Purpose Beyond Gaming

Bobakitoo Re:Nice summary. (72 comments)

Good thing it mentioned the anecdote about the eldery woman twice, otherwise I might have forgotten it. Clearly no one is proof reading these...

It was for stereoscopy purpose. If you had the Oculus you could have seen it in 3d and it would have brought you to tears.

France Moves To Protect Independent Booksellers From Amazon

Bobakitoo Re:I see plenty of people reading (264 comments)

Electronic books are extremely resource intensive and require a massive amount of well-maintained centralised infrastructure. It's a huge price to pay for the convenience of "being slightly lighter".

It is not just slightly lighter, you can hold thousand kilograms worth of books in your pocket. The resource intensive and massive centralized infrastructure is only due to digital restriction management. DRM free book do not have this problem. Essentially, what you are saying is that electronic book are defective by design, but we can fix this and save paper in the process. Don't dismiss new technologies because of a few political glitch.

Clinton Grants $1 Million To Edible Insect Farmers

Bobakitoo Re:Hey! (277 comments)

The only reason you are severely underestimating the grasshopper is because you anthropomorphize the cows. All living things desire to remain alive, all organisms* feel pain. Killing and causing suffering is part of life. You have to do it in order to live.. or pay someone to do it for you, in which case you are an hypocrite not someone of higher moral**.

* That include plants, which is now know for facts that they communicate, are self aware and feel pain. Nature has many way, the central nervous system is only the way used my animals to achieve the goal of all living organism.

** Strict vegetarian diet also involve the killing of animals. Mechanized agriculture kill wildlife the field and in processing facility. Unless the animal-right vegan carefully hand pick ALL his food, he is a hypocrite.

Clinton Grants $1 Million To Edible Insect Farmers

Bobakitoo Re:Yecch! (277 comments)

Eat bugs? No thanks, I'll stick to birds, fish, and mammals. No escargo or grasshoppers for me, thank you.

Escargots aren't insects...

Correct, but they are 'bug' according to various definition. The OP didn't made any reference to insects.

Google Dropping Netscape Plugin API Support In Chrome/Blink

Bobakitoo Re:"standards-based web platform" (170 comments)

They will never update their NPAPI plugin while it is still working. Because if it work, don't fix it.

The NPAPI is only depreciate at this point; the summary state that the most common used ones are white-listed. It is therefore probably not impossible to custom white-list any if your specific need.

"451" Error Will Tell Users When Governments Are Blocking Websites

Bobakitoo Re:Misunderstanding of HTTP? (255 comments)

Censored site are often hijacked by scary-looking redirect to state propaganda. If this is accepted in the future specification, that propaganda page will require to return this status code. eg: "HTTP/1.0 451 Corrupted Government"

Non compliant censorship can, additionally, be protested on the basis that they are not compliant.

"451" Error Will Tell Users When Governments Are Blocking Websites

Bobakitoo Re:Reference to... (255 comments)

The book do not need to match reality in any way. It's a reference to burning books, censoring the web is burning books. That is the message.

"451" Error Will Tell Users When Governments Are Blocking Websites

Bobakitoo Re:Reference to... (255 comments)

Which is just another reason it'll never happen. It's a loaded reference; what government is going to link themselves to F451 on purpose?

They will do just that. If this become part of the specification they will be obliged to follow them or else we can reject their censorship software on the basis that they are not compliant. eg: "No one is supporting paedophilia or aiding terrorism we simply want specification compliant software!". And when they do get compliant, everyone get the reference. It is win-win as far as living under a oppressive regime can be.

New Animated PNG Creation Tools Intend To Bring APNG Into Mainstream Use

Bobakitoo Re:quite a few browsers? (246 comments)

Look at the source of your demo. Each frame from the video (mp4, ogv) has colour on the top half and a mask on the bottom half. Then JavaScript is use to render them into a html canvas. This is neat, but far from the simplicity of embedding a PNG or APNG image. This is also very inefficient, a site that would use this hack to display animated icons would be horribly slow, especially on mobile platforms.

Reject DRM and You Risk Walling Off Parts of the Web, Says W3C Chief

Bobakitoo Re:Idiots (433 comments)

DRM is a two part system; The first part is a useless technology and the second part is a legislation that outlaw circumvention of the first part.

The DRM could be XOR, it does not matter. They can abuse the laws to sue out of existence anyone aiding circumvention, for example a open source browser that still work without enforcing the restriction (showing all ads, disallow saving, disallow printing), and thus preventing the general public from accessing the web without encumberment.

Facebook's Complaint Process Is Arbitrary — But So Is Campaigning

Bobakitoo Re:Strange term (114 comments)

People who are against "pro-rape" pages are now considered "humourless feminists"? That strikes me as a poor choice of words. I would like to think all sane people would be put off by "pro-rape" propaganda.

Pro-rape is acceptable and often funny when men are the victims. The "humourless feminist" is obviously a reference to the fact that some of these feminists will often rejoice and laugh at the idea of prison rape and male mutilation but become humourless when it's the other way around. The 'pro-rape' jokes are to highlight their hypocrisy on that matter. (eg: It is a troll in the traditional sense, and IMHO the only valid sense of the word)

US Entertainment Industry To Congress: Make It Legal For Us To Deploy Rootkits

Bobakitoo LOL (443 comments)

I always been saying that the entertainment industry was the real pirate as what they were doing was closer to sailing the seas to sinking ship, steal booty and murder crewman then simply sharing data over the Internet. Now anyone not seeing it that way has no excuse.

The Hunt For LulzSec's Missing Sixth Member

Bobakitoo Re:Clever guy (104 comments)

So must be doing something about that.

Maybe he is fictive? Number three pigs '1', '2', and '4'. And laugh your ass off as the police search pig number 3 for months if not years.

Multiple aliases are better to remain anonymous. When the author is found, there is no way to know if all his aliases are discovered. Undiscovered aliases could be confused as a other person. Even if someone confess there is a sixth person it could be misinformation or plain ignorance.

EFF Resumes Accepting Bitcoin Donations After Two Year Hiatus

Bobakitoo Re:Why not... (93 comments)

Accepting them is a "no-brainer" as a donation, there is no loss. But for any other serious financial transaction, well, unless you are a mobster or a dope dealer or otherwise involved in something illegal, the real question is WHY DEAL WITH IT.

Because freedom.

Also as the system become mature and ubiquitous it will be a good way to avoid extortion fee from the banks and credit card processors. There is lot more competition in currency exchange. As a result trading currency(eg: Bitcoin to USD) is cheaper then all the transaction fee you get for processing credit cards.

But yeah, continue to spread FUD about new technologies. In the meantime the US government continue to use 'honest' and 'legit' USD to traffic drugs.

Google Demands Microsoft Pull YouTube App For WP8

Bobakitoo Re:I can't wait to see this battle (716 comments)

Just FYI there were no crime committed by Google in this case. This is just about Microsoft ignoring its competitor's TOS all while enforcing its own TOS on the users. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Google Demands Microsoft Pull YouTube App For WP8

Bobakitoo Re:I can't wait to see this battle (716 comments)

Google is levering its dominance in another area similar to what MS did with IE and Windows...

To clarify Microsoft leveraged, err abused, its monopoly to shove IE on Window and, in turn, forced proprietary IE extension on the web. The damage to the web is the wrong part, not offering a basic browser with the default Windows installation. Your comparison is invalid.

The european conviction and force un-bundle were simply symptom of judges and politicians not knowing shit about computer and the Interwebs.
