Nano-Pixels Hold Potential For Screens Far Denser Than Today's Best

ButchDeLoria Hardware Struggles Now Though (129 comments)

At this point, we're making consumer grade hardware strain to drive 4K monitors. Pixel density doesn't matter if the device can't easily run at that resolution.

Dwarf Fortress Gets Biggest Update In Years

ButchDeLoria Re:Just play minecraft instead (138 comments)

There are above-ground collapse messages when cutting down huge multiple z-level trees, so I think it is actually feasible to have that happen. Of course, things like "the entirely of your region down to Hell being able to be supported by a single support attached to a single lever" is still a thing, but more for Fun purposes.

Google Reader: One Year Later

ButchDeLoria It Got Me Into RSS (132 comments)

I manually got my news by actually looking at sites before. The death of Google Reader and subsequent shilling by competitors made me decide on using Feedly, and since then I can't live without an RSS feed.

Microsoft Backs Open Source For the Internet of Things

ButchDeLoria Re:Fantastic! Open sourcing will make pwning easie (136 comments)

Cyanogen supports some of the more popular mid-spec devices, like the Moto G, as well. But you are right, they won't support, say, a random DoCoMo Android-based fliphone made for the Japanese market.

Microsoft Backs Open Source For the Internet of Things

ButchDeLoria Re:They know the "Internet of Things" is a failure (136 comments)

So just like cell phones which are now a permanent fixture of the generation that never looked up...

I resent that statement. Not only do I actively avoid responding to phone calls and texts, but I only freak out about having no cell signal when I'm using my phone as a WiFi hotspot for my laptop or my desktop when the cable is out. /offtopic

Chicago Adding Sensors For Public Monitoring

ButchDeLoria Re:And Watch_Dogs just came out (107 comments)

Well, Ubisoft IS the Templars. Even Abstergo Entertainment's offices in Assassin's Creed 4 were directly modeled after Ubisoft Montreal's.

Was Watch Dogs For PC Handicapped On Purpose?

ButchDeLoria Re:Friends dont let Friends buy Ubisoft - Agreed (215 comments)

Ubisoft intentionally gimped the game for AMD cards as well, so your 7970s would probably do worse than a certain major Let's Player getting 40 FPS with SLI Titans.

Watch Dogs Released, DRM Troubles

ButchDeLoria Fuck Ubisoft, Support Haemimont. (123 comments)

Tropico 5's campaign mode is a better sci-fi story than Watch_Dogs, it's $20 less, has far less DRM, is getting a Linux port once SteamOS is at 1.0, and is actually fun.
