CaptnMArk Re:splitter (1080 comments)

Note, I'd probably put 3 40W incandescents there for the bathroom, etc...

Light Bulb Ban Produces Hoarding In EU, FUD In U.S.

CaptnMArk splitter (1080 comments)

Someone really needs to make a 3-in-1 screw-in adapter for light bulbs. Then maybe, if I put 3 15W CFLs it will be better than a 60-75W normal bulb.

Fedora 18 To Feature the GNOME2 Fork MATE

CaptnMArk Re:Splendid decision (202 comments)

For me, Alt+Tab is completely unusable!. The rest I could live with (except for unity's global menu bar).

Five EU Countries Taken To Court For Failing To Implement Cookie Law

CaptnMArk Re:leave the EU (130 comments)

This is not true anymore because firefox has stopped crashing daily long ago (I used to have script to delete
cookies not on the whitelist at startup, but it's mostly pointless now because firefox has survived for weeks).

GNOME Shell Extensions Are Live

CaptnMArk Re:Alt-right click vs. right click? (204 comments)

May be true, but I think we also need a no-mouse Friday for gui/app designers/developers.

Chrome Is the Third Double-Digit Browser

CaptnMArk Re:Err? (299 comments)

I like the general look, but it breaks Zoom Text Only (left sidebar) which is really annoying
(I started using custom css to hide it on one of my machines).

Chrome also lacks Zoom Text Only, so I don't use it.

Zoom text only is a must-have feature. Except on broken sites.

Transport by wormhole is a better mechanism. It would also make it easier to to transport without a transporter at each end.

GM Criticized Over Chevy Volt's Hybrid Similarities

CaptnMArk Re:Distinction without a difference? (657 comments)

If that's true, it makes me completely uninterested in the Volt... Just buy a Prius or similiar.

Now, if they need a direct link for > 70mph, just include a clutch that engages directly at that speed.

My Camera ...

CaptnMArk Re:None of the above. (342 comments)

I also have an S3IS. The only reason I'd consider upgrading is SDHC support and maybe more video formats.

Sentence Spacing — 1 Space or 2?

CaptnMArk Re:False assumption (814 comments)

Kernel is 1 tab, which is always 8 spaces. This is completely different from 8 space indent.

Malicious Hardware Hacking May Be the Next Frontier

CaptnMArk Re:I can see compromised hardware being an issue (146 comments)

The problem with DRM/TPM/... today is that the 'vendors' like Apple and Microsoft are taking
the control of the machine away from the owner. This means that a lot of advanced users will be on the 'must break DRM' side of the debate instead of 'DRM increases security'.

Publishers Campaign For Universal E-Book Format

CaptnMArk Re:PDF is not an eBook format (348 comments)

PDF is 100% useless... It's really sad that these days much of html content is useless too, due to too much use of fixed layout CSS instead of free flowing text and some tables.

Firefox With H.264 HTML 5 Support = Wild Fox

CaptnMArk Re:End of Firefox? (477 comments)

I prefer it because of Zoom text only. Otherwise, I'd have to use Readability on even more sites.
