Judge Says EA Battlefield 4 Execs Engaged In "Puffery," Not Fraud

Dishevel Re:Link... (83 comments)

I think I am adding the extra "m" to his name to explain the "Massive" failure that he is as an editor. I will have to watch for that.

Thanks

No. It requires that the customer should not take such claims seriously. There is no lower limit to human intelligence.

Why should a Bluetooth icon take more RAM than an entire former OS?

It should not.

So you are saying that the aspect ratio seems to you to be a more productive 3:4 rather than the older standard of 4:3?

The Guardian Reveals That Whisper App Tracks "Anonymous" Users

Dishevel Re:Well (180 comments)

Last time I but my head against this wall.

You do not want to restrict what the companies can collect as long as the do it honestly. Restricting what companies can collect honestly only serves to reduce what the can offer and increase the costs of offering it.

Restrictions should be enforced upon what the government can compel or even ask of private companies. restriction of government power in this area protects people and their freedoms. Being protected from your own choices has not the same level of importance as protection of our freedoms.

Despite Patent Settlement, Apple Pulls Bose Merchandise From Its Stores

Dishevel Re:Bose is overpriced crap and always has been (328 comments)

So you have never used a computer other than a Mac. Right?

Because every PC I have ever owned supports dual booting. Dual Boot support does not lie in the hardware but in the bootloader. I have multiple machines right now that will boot in to 2 or 3 and one even has 4 operating systems installed.

Long and Short is this. You have so little knowledge of computers that your opinion is useless.

The Guardian Reveals That Whisper App Tracks "Anonymous" Users

Dishevel Re:Well (180 comments)

The problem there is the Government. What people choose to give to a private company is their business. Smart or not. What the government can compel others to divulge is a problem.

Dishevel Re:Well (180 comments)

I am not asking for an new amendment just that I have no worries about what a private company knows about me.

And we do have the power to fix it. As a people though Americans have become lazy and spoiled and will give up the freedoms that were paid for in blood for convenience.

The Guardian Reveals That Whisper App Tracks "Anonymous" Users

Dishevel Re:Well (180 comments)

I believe that he pointed out rather clearly that he did not give a shit about what companies are selling to companies to get him to buy shit.

Where his rational fear comes from is when an entity with guns and prisons comes for you. This is what the constitution is meant to protect us from, "The Tyranny of the Government". I also do not give a fuck that P&G knows how many times a day I take a crap. I do care when the police violate my privacy in an attempt to take away my freedom or my life.

We have the freedom to choose the people we want to do business with (Exceptions being Government granted monopolies). We do not have the freedom to tell the government to fuck off.

Ask Slashdot: Handling Patented IP In a Job Interview?

Dishevel Re:You guessed it: It depends (224 comments)

As an employee your job is to do your best. Period. They hire you at a wage you both agree on. Then. You do your best as an employee for the company. If you have "tools" that you can use and do not then you are not doing the right thing. This is not to say that they should get free permanent lic of all your "IP" (Fuck I hate that phrase) becaue you had the pleasure to work there.

But while you are working there you should always bring your best. That is how a person gets through life being successful and remaining human.

Netflix To Charge More For 4K Video

Dishevel Re: Thats Fair (158 comments)

Netflix does pay for all their bandwidth. Netflix pays it internet bills. The customer pays theirs. When the customer want Netflix to send a movie over Verizon says ... Whoa! Even though we are getting paid by the customer to deliver you video and Netflix is paying their provider to send it, We want more money because .... Fairness!

Four Dutch Uberpop Taxi Drivers Arrested, Fined

Dishevel Re:Standards, my ass. (282 comments)

They get to offer a superior service because the are not regulated.

Keep Uber going. Just let the cab companies compete fairly. Either get rid of regulations on cabs or add them to Uber.

Ask Slashdot: An Accurate Broadband Speed Test?

Dishevel Re: Speakeasy Speed Test (294 comments)

I have to tell you that the stuff that normally kills a fiber run leaves copper alone and vice versa.

If you are running a company and a connection is important spending an extra grand or so a month to have bonded T1 backup is a good idea.

Ask Slashdot: An Accurate Broadband Speed Test?

Dishevel Re: Speakeasy Speed Test (294 comments)

T1, while slow, has its place.

1.5 Mbs, synchronous, rock solid and dedicated.

If you can afford it. You do not need faster and it has to be up it is great. Also I have 4xBonded T1 as a backup to my 50 Mbps fiber at work. The copper and fiber runs are completely different and gives me awesome piece of mind.

FBI thinks Google is evil, Now.

Dishevel Dishevel writes  |  about a year and a half ago

Dishevel (1105119) writes "In a story from Mike at TechDirt.
The last few weeks have been quite interesting in the world of NSLs, however. As we noted, a few weeks ago, a court in California ruled that NSLs were unconstitutional. And, now, it's come out that Google appears to be fighting an NSL, potentially in response to that very ruling. Of course, it appears that this news of Google fighting back wasn't supposed to be public either."

CNET steps in it again.

Dishevel Dishevel writes  |  about 2 years ago

Dishevel writes "CNET finally comes clean.
At CES CNET voted that Dish networks "Hopper" would be best of show. Of course CBS, owner of CNET steped in to kill that due to pending litigation over the Hopper.

Well they have finally come clean about it.
Sort of. My favorite part is these two quotes from the editor in chief of CNET Lindsey Turrentine.
First.
"Going forward, I will do everything within my power to prevent this situation from happening again."
Followed by.
"If I had to face this dilemma again, I would not quit. I stand by my team and the years of work they have put into making CNET what it is."
Hmmm
 "
