Wheel Damage Adding Up Quickly For Mars Rover Curiosity

Dishevel Re:Duration??? (157 comments)

They did. And they designed it really well. So far has gone well beyond what the primary mission required of it. They are now trying to find ways to boost its life even further.

Wheel Damage Adding Up Quickly For Mars Rover Curiosity

Dishevel Re:Someone with no brain is running NASA (157 comments)

Might be outside the range of its excellent low temperature performance.

I would think that it would last a quite a while and offer some flexibility still at 11C under that temp.

The flexibility that is left would likely be more than enough to mitigate damage to the wheels.

Google's Driverless Cars Capable of Exceeding Speed Limit

Dishevel Re:Left or Right? (459 comments)

Computers are way better at understanding the current condition of the road they are on than a person does.

Google's Driverless Cars Capable of Exceeding Speed Limit

Dishevel Re:Left or Right? (459 comments)

It is already updating "rules" all the time. It has to. Maximum clearances on road. Weight restrictions, Speed Limits, One Way, Carpool, Toll Roads, Adding one more thing should not be an issue. Way easier than implementing a whole new data update system for a rule.

Google's Driverless Cars Capable of Exceeding Speed Limit

Dishevel Re:Left or Right? (459 comments)

Like speed limits it will drive how it supposed to depending on the road it is on. When the road switches from LH to RH it will change just like it does when the speed limit goes from 65 to 50. Rules are loaded with the map.

I am not saying the system is useless. What I am saying is that this will not make a group of 12 year old children an army.

Yup. I would be ok if my phone were twice as thick as it is. Give me some extra cooling and more RAM and more protection. Sounds like a wonderful trade off.

The IPv4 Internet Hiccups

Dishevel Re:Lack of incentives...? (247 comments)

Lobbying the FCC on the other hand, that could actually affect change. It would be in the best interest of everyone (excluding short term investors in the various ISPs), with networking equipment manufacturers poised to win the biggest

You know I was just talking with the wife last night about how of all the government agencies the FCC has always listened to the people and done the right thing,

The only truth there is the really surprising one. A /.er with a wife.

3 Congressmen Trying To Tie Up SpaceX

Dishevel Re:What? (391 comments)

These "congressmen" (Shitholes) are not creating jobs. They are protecting jobs in their State at the expense of jobs outside of their State.

To do this they will lie, cheat, steal and create regulations till it is done.

FBI thinks Google is evil, Now.

Dishevel Dishevel writes  |  about a year ago

Dishevel (1105119) writes "In a story from Mike at TechDirt.
The last few weeks have been quite interesting in the world of NSLs, however. As we noted, a few weeks ago, a court in California ruled that NSLs were unconstitutional. And, now, it's come out that Google appears to be fighting an NSL, potentially in response to that very ruling. Of course, it appears that this news of Google fighting back wasn't supposed to be public either."

CNET steps in it again.

Dishevel Dishevel writes  |  about a year and a half ago

Dishevel writes "CNET finally comes clean.
At CES CNET voted that Dish networks "Hopper" would be best of show. Of course CBS, owner of CNET steped in to kill that due to pending litigation over the Hopper.

Well they have finally come clean about it.
Sort of. My favorite part is these two quotes from the editor in chief of CNET Lindsey Turrentine.
First.
"Going forward, I will do everything within my power to prevent this situation from happening again."
Followed by.
"If I had to face this dilemma again, I would not quit. I stand by my team and the years of work they have put into making CNET what it is."
Hmmm
 "
