Man "Beats" World of Warcraft

Dr. Impossible Re:Of course (655 comments)

I'd like to know what the fuck this "life" is that everyone is always ranting about. Apparently spending your days sitting on the sofa and watching reality TV is a "life," but spending the same amount of time playing WoW is not. Being a completely useless, miserable fuckup is all fine and well as long as you're not playing WoW.

Malware Can Download Child Porn To Your Computer

If someone is in possession of such images the most likely conclusion is that he had something to do with it, so he must be investigated.

You can prove that he asked for the pictures to be taken or that he paid to obtain them? I thought not.

Doesn't matter.

Being in possession of such images is not a "thought crime," it's "being a probable accessory to a crime."

Review: Dragon Age: Origins

Dr. Impossible Re:Sounds good (452 comments)

I was a fan of Baldur's Gate as well, but there's just something about DA that's giving me a bad feeling. I can't put my finger on it, but something feels off. In recent years I've wasted far too much money on AAA titles where the AAA apparently stood for Abomination & Atrocity from Ass (hello Fallout 3), so I'm being very cautious now. But there isn't a demo available, and I can never bother with piracy because it's too much of a headache. I might take a risk and buy DA, but I'm not sure yet.

I once mistook a Crysis screenshot for a photo. After examining it for a while, I realized it's just Crysis.

Dr. Impossible Re:This guy was lucky. (586 comments)

How about we embrace that concept "land of the free" and just let people enjoy liberated speech without fear of jail time? Arrest the rapist, or the murderer, or the thief, not the guy who just happens to have the photo of the event.

But of course! Surely a person who, say, has pictures or footage of a gangrape is not at all a danger to society or possibly connected to the incident, and should not under any cirumstances be investigated by the police.

Leaked Modern Warfare 2 Footage Causes Outrage

Leaked Modern Warfare 2 Footage Causes Outrage

Dr. Impossible Re:Probably intentional. (543 comments)

The video was revolting, horriffic.

I watched a few seconds, determined that it's the same shit I've already been doing in a bunch of other games, and turned it off. What is the big deal?

A Look At How Far PC Gaming Has Come

Dr. Impossible Re:Doom (427 comments)

First Person Shooters ruined the game industry for me. The games are without plot and are entirely brain dead in the attempt to finish any sort of tasks.

Newsflash: the typical video game has always been brainless and/or lacking any real plot. Most FPS games today have a plot and narrative anyway. There's a big difference between Doom and BioShock.

Then we will all be stuck with the next FPS that is just point and shoot with new pretty graphics and no plot.

Yes, because the only two types of games that exist are CRPGs and FPS'!

Avataritis — On the Abundance of Customizable Game Characters

Dr. Impossible Re:Summary of article (78 comments)

Despite this, I'm not sure allowing character customization is a good idea. First, there is the familiar tradeoff of depth vs breadth, so customization leads to shallower stories

This makes even less sense than the article's summary.

Large Hadron Collider Scientist Arrested For al-Qaeda Ties

Dr. Impossible Re:so you don't have to DO anything anymore? (245 comments)

OMG that's a reason to start rounding up everybody with brown skin!

What never ceases to amaze me about you liberals is that you always, always, always turn anything Islam-related into a race issue (why? Islam obviously does not constitute a race) and come up with alarmist fantasy scenarios where all "brown people" are rounded up and gassed, when in reality the Western world is ruled by Islamomania, and it would be unthinkable to even criticize Islam or Muslims, let alone start rounding them up.

Calling it now: I will be modded -1 troll etc. because the leftist-liberal hivemind of Slashdot cannot tolerate any dissent, but is also unable to formulate any counter-arguments.

You're acting like there's something unusual about a Muslim extremist in Europe. They are a dime a dozen.

How Video Games Reflect Ideology

Dr. Impossible Re:Are you serious? (244 comments)

I think games allow you to connect with the characters and situation much more.

For me it makes no difference whether it's a movie or a game (or how interactive the game is). Only the the writing and presentation matter.

How Video Games Reflect Ideology

Dr. Impossible Re:A reflection on the speaker (244 comments)

Articles like this have lots of words in them, but they have nothing to say. They're just noise. I could write an article titled "can there be diarrhea in my ass?" and it would be the same thing.

Yes, games can have political messages, and have had political messages. The end.

How Video Games Reflect Ideology

Dr. Impossible Re:Games are entertainment (244 comments)

Lots of people love to sneer at video games and dismiss them as children's toys, devoid of artistic or intellectual content.

And they are mostly correct. There are very, very few video games that can even hope to compete with movies in terms of storytelling.

How Video Games Reflect Ideology

Dr. Impossible Re:Racism (244 comments)

Having nonmale, nonwhite gamers increases the range of games available, which gives you more variety in what you can choose to play.

Yes, because black people need their own video games.

Also, white people can't play Japanese games because they are only compatible with Japanese DNA.

Report Claims Iran Has Data To Build a Nuclear Bomb

Dr. Impossible Re:Not the first middle east nuke (630 comments)

The president can't launch the country's nuclear arsenal just because he feels like it. And in case you didn't notice, Bush is no longer in office. So clearly his remarks were meaningless.

The Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns are ordinary military operations, religion has nothing to do with them.
