To the extent there are taxes, I mostly favor ...

Drumforyourlife No way! (913 comments)

The Federal income tax is illegal (in the USA), as it is a direct, unapportioned tax. These are strictly forbidden by the constitution. Government projects are funded by corporate, state, and local taxes. Federal income taxes go directly into the pockets of the federal reserve, which is a private corporation that loans money to the U.S. at interest and controls the value of the dollar. Go look it up, you'll find out that these statements are very true. However, keep in mind that if you refuse to pay taxes, the IRS may well come knock your door down and drag you off to prison.

My laptop's battery generally lasts ...

Drumforyourlife Re:5+ hours! (291 comments)

I have an Acer Aspire One that has an Atom, and it's true. The battery lasts between 5-6 hours, and under heavy use (i use it to record music) it lasts more than 4. It really is pretty nice, because if I'm playing for more than 5 hours, I need a break anyways so I can get up and go get the cord.

Microsoft Ending Mainstream Support For XP

Drumforyourlife Boo (580 comments)

Vista is too fancy to run on my computer. XP is just right... and I wouldn't touch windows 7 with a ten foot pole. not happening. if M$ doesn't want to support me, fine. But they better not expect me to $upport them.

Microsoft Asks Fed For Bailout

Drumforyourlife ohmigosh (346 comments)

Haha that's great. My initial reaction was anger, as the whole financial thing has got me all steamed anyway... but then I remembered what company we're talking about here. subtle, but effective. I must admit I was fooled.

How Do I Make My Netbook More Manly?

Drumforyourlife hmm (993 comments)

You could comment on how having a smaller laptop makes it more portable, making you more versatile and able to get your work done more quickly from anywhere. Then think of somewhere to go (like a coffee shop or something) and ask if she'd like to come along. also, don't tell her you play games on it.

17 Million People Stopped Buying CDs In 2008

Drumforyourlife Re:What's worth buying? (375 comments)

there are good songs out there... it's just so expensive to get them recorded and produced for radio that the only people doing it are those who have the record deal already lined up. breaking out in a band is like getting your first job: need the car to get to the job, need the job to pay for the car. you need the right gear to sound good, and you need to sound good to make enough money to get the gear you want. the stuff that gets radio play is what the big companies think will sell CDs and sell on iTunes etc. If you don't like what's on the radio, try going to the company's website and checking out all of the bands that are signed. If you don't like any of that, try trolling on myspace for bands. There are a lot of good bands out there that just don't have the cash to make a full record... unless you support them and buy their shirts and go to their shows. the way to get good music is to pay up when you hear something you like.

Suspect Freed After Exposing Cop's Facebook Status

Drumforyourlife Re:What the hell? (653 comments)

Simply refusing a breathalyzer here in the empire state is enough to get your license suspended for 6 months. Cops have to have to maintain the highest level of integrity in order for law enforcement to work. Ususally, it's just your word against his.

Digital TV Coupon Program Under Way Again

Drumforyourlife Re:Tv went blank. (147 comments)

I feel the same way. Now that I don't sit around watching TV, I'm more fit, have more energy, and I have time to do the things I like to do. No more boring nights for me! yes, I know it's a choice, but I needed that prompting to get me moving I guess.

Amazon Caves On Kindle 2 Text-To-Speech

Drumforyourlife Re:Time will tell (370 comments)

you raise a legitimate point, sir. I can barely stand the news as read to me by "Our robotic overlords", much less an entire book. Now if they put Morgan Freeman as the default voice, It would be just like watching a movie, and awesomely entertaining instead of painfully boring.

The Future of Google Chrome

Drumforyourlife Re:I know the future... (294 comments)

I run chrome with winXP. Although it does crash occasionally (once a week or so), it has a restore button that allows you to bring back the exact pages you were viewing. I have one of those Acer Aspire netbooks, so the viewable screen area is important to me, and chrome maximizes that. IE and Firefox fill up the top of my screen with all those toolbars and garbage that I really could care less about. Chrome has everything I want in a browser. I like it.

Sony To Unveil New Fuel-Cell Prototype

Drumforyourlife Strange... (116 comments)

I was expecting something like this to be bulky, but the article's picture shows that the batteries are fairly small. This could be really good for people who travel. I charge my phone while I'm sleeping, but I always have to take the charger along for long trips, and then find a plug.

Researchers Hack Biometric Faces

Drumforyourlife well sure (244 comments)

but wouldn't those hackers be pissed if they go through all the trouble to get a good face pic of the user only to find out that there's a password screen immediately after that. i'd say it's a great addition to a layered security system.

Post-Beta Windows 7 Build Leaked With New IE8

Drumforyourlife Personally (332 comments)

I'm sticking with XP. I've had a chance to try Vista, and I really hated it. It reminded me too much of a Mac. Flashy graphics make for slow processors. Also, I have 1GB RAM on my lappy, which means that I could just barely run Vista. No thanks, I'll stick to running XP comfortably. There is plenty of product support and compatibility, and it gets the job done for me. As far as people downloading the new windows over BitTorrent, don't they realize that you have to have a genuine copy to get the updates? Or is there a crack out already?

Major Spike in Security Threats To Online Games

Drumforyourlife Re:Considering the Rush Job... (48 comments)

This isn't a problem with the games themselves, just the users who are playing the games. There have to be very strict punishments for people who are caught abusing the trust of the community. Good rule of thumb: If it's not in the game, don't click it. This applies to clan sites, FAQ's, Walkthroughs, all of it. Just don't do it unless you can be certain that it's a reputable site you're going to.

Real Life Game

Drumforyourlife Re:Just about as far. . . (3 comments)

...Not to mention the fantasy and/or historical situations that many games are set in. It's really hard to get to 1944 Japan, or post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. in RL. I use my games as an escape from reality, much like a book, or booze.
