A Decade of Agile Programming — Has It Delivered?

Dumnezeu Re:Why don't they ask (395 comments)

After 10 years or so, one would think that if it really was a lot better, at least half of all products out there would be Agile-based by now?

No. Most companies don't understand Agile so they're either afraid of it or they implement their own flavor which is usually far from Agile.

And here's some of the stuff I heard managers/CEOs say about agile:

Agile may be better than waterfall, but what would we do without all that documentation??!?!?1?? How would the project survive and how could the developers write code without shitloads of documentation? Who the fuck do those computer programmers believe they are when ask to be considered human beings? Everybody knows you can't trust your employees with anything, so you have to make all the decisions because they're either incompetent, they might steal your code or they might intentionally break it. Waterfall WTF! </sarcasm>

GoogleSharing, Now With No Trust Required

Dumnezeu Re:There is still man-in-the-middle attack (152 comments)

The man-in-the-middle is there, but he can't do anything, because of the way SSL works. There is not man-in-the-middle attack. Very good question though!

And you get +1 funny instead of insightful. This is how reliable the "online experience" is. Good luck explaining to your boss why "someone on the Internet" called you a rapist.

EU Surveillance Studies Disclosed By Pirate Party

Dumnezeu Re:This is why we vote Pirate (343 comments)

Yes, he should have included ALL the surveillance methods ever used and ever to be used. Just a few scary samples isn't enough (at least for you...)

Game Publishers Using Stealth P2P Clients

Dumnezeu Re:This is the end of unlimited unmetered bandwidt (149 comments)

I have unlimited data transfer at 5Mbit/sec for $10/month. At least that's what I get from my ISP and they explicitly allow me to run any services I want (I just can't send mail through port 25 without making a phone call first and even that takes only a few minutes and it's a one-time activation). This is in Romania.

AMD Hates Laptop Stickers As Much As You Do

Dumnezeu AMD, you don't need to switch stickers! (597 comments)

From all of the above comments, I see that people are FINE with stickers, they just don't know how to take them off and they complain about the glue. They don't feel "forced" (as TFA suggests). I actually keep the stickers for as long as possible (until they get dirty) because it gives me the feeling of "new" :)

New German Government ID Hacked By CCC

Dumnezeu Re:OpenPGP (86 comments)

In support of the parent post: can you even trust your own hardware? I remember a recent story on Slashdot regarding some common computer hardware (a video or a network card) had its firmware infected with a trojan. And even more recently, a company accidentally released a software update that was infected with a virus (the machine they used to compile was infected, so the compiled .exe got infected as well).

Facebook Says It Owns 'Book'

Dumnezeu Re:uh what about this? (483 comments)

They're not hypocrites. It clearly says that the name was borrowed , not stolen. I'm sure they're honest people and they'll pay the school sooner or later. We must consider Facebook to be innocent until proven guilty and, until now, there is no proof that they won't pay... right?

Root Privileges Through Linux Kernel Bug

Dumnezeu Wait... what? (131 comments)

I don't understand TFH / TFS / TFA. Are we talking about local privilege escalation by overwriting the memory space owned by processes running as root?

Why You Shouldn't Worry About IPv6 Just Yet

Dumnezeu Re:most hated part of ipv6 (425 comments)

The most hated part of IPv6 is that people (like you) have no clue what they're talking about. If you still don't know what I'm talking about, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6_address#Notation and you'll learn that you CAN use 2001:0618:71A3:0801:1319:0211:FEC2:82DC but, most likely, you won't have to, because you'll just need 2001:0618:71A3:: and if you still bitch that it's still "too long" then come up with a better, permanent solution instead of complaining.
