Maybe the cultured brain is named "Dimwit".

Not sure what interface it is using to post its memory on /. though.

Why People Watch StarCraft, Instead of Playing

ELitwin Similar to Poker (122 comments)

This seems similar to watching poker on TV where the viewer knows what cards all the players are holding. There is still suspense with regards to the flop (and turn/river) and whether the betting/bluffing strategies will work.

Human Powered Helicopter Aims To Break Records

ELitwin Re:what record to break? (87 comments)

From the article: "If Gamera makes it off the ground, the team has the potential to capture a world record for human-powered helicopter flight with a female pilot on board."

So the record they are going after purely based on the sex of the pilot? That's weak.

Smithsonian Unveils 'Art of Games' Voting Results

ELitwin Re:Decent List (183 comments)

Having actually read TFA, it didn't make any mention of why video arcade games were excluded from the contest.
I still remember being so excited when Pac-Man was announced for the Atari 2600, and so utterly disappointed at the graphics and game-play when I actually popped in the cartridge for the first time.

This is especially head scratching since they are including a Pac Man arcade console as one of the playable games at the exhibition.

50% of Apple's Revenue Comes From the iPhone

ELitwin Re:This is why Apple is a dangerous company.. (292 comments)

I guarantee you that the average consumer wouldn't even be able to tell the different between the two OS's side by side.

Guarantee? That's a strong statement. My 10 year old son knows the difference between his iPod Touch and my HTC Android phone.

I was about to make the same point.
It seems like there was something controlling the timeline marker that was independent of everything else going on.

Facebook To Be 'Biggest Bank' By 2015

ELitwin Re:Metal International? Who? (301 comments)

That guy looks and sounds like the biggest douche in the world. He claims credit for the term Web 3.0.

Well, I would like to officially coin the following terms:

- Web 4.0 ©
- Web 5.0 ©
- Web 6.0 ©
- Web n.0 ©

Software Firm Looking To Hire Naked Coders

ELitwin Re:Really?!?! (369 comments)

That reminds me of the Jerry Seinfeld skit (or maybe it was in Seinfeld, the show) where he talks about not knowing what to do with his hands if he were on a nude beach. I think he came about with the idea of just wearing a belt with pockets attached to it so he could at least put his hands somewhere.

So then you don't actually work from your house. You just drive from your house to the hospital, instead of driving from an office to the hospital.

Accidental Find May Lead To a Cure For Baldness

ELitwin Re:Conspiracies abound (404 comments)

Based on TFA, it doesn't sound like it would be a one time treatment. It would probably require on-going medication to keep the stress hormone at bay. If this ever pans out to be a viable treatment, it would provide a steady revenue stream to the manufacturer.

First of all, it is referred to as "ANH", not "SH" Second of all, how can you rank "RotJ" above "ANH?" WTF?

Methinks you are talking out of your ass. Aside from Twitter (which still uses RoR AFAIK for some things), please provide other examples to backup your flame bait.

US May Disable All Car Phones, Says Trans. Secretary

ELitwin Let's disable/ban all communication (1065 comments)

If LaHood thinks a passenger talking on a cellphone is distracting to a driver, then isn't a driver talking to a passenger just as, or even more, distracting? I say let's ban all driver communication, both intra and extra vehicular. This will of course require a redesign of all cars, perhaps a driver "cockpit" like a commercial airplane.
