Apple Announces iPhone 5

Exclamation mark! Re: post-PC world you can't code on ios and the sc (1052 comments)

I'd say we're still in the PC world. It's just that the "P" stands for portable now. In fact you could argue it's even more "personal" than the previous "PC".

Ask Slashdot: Best Way To Watch TV In 2012?

Exclamation mark! Re:Best way to watch TV (479 comments)

I don't want to sound like an ass but how about getting of our fat lazy asses and going outside a little? We spend too much time watching TV as it is.

Jimmy Wales To Become UK Government Adviser

Exclamation mark! Re:Fucking wow. (95 comments)

Exactly as you said "even if it's then ignored". Having an adviser is one thing. Listening to the advice is another. I'm afraid most governments heed their mothers advice to clean their ears.

Saudi Arabia Constructing World's Tallest Building

Exclamation mark! Re:Yawn... (225 comments)

I don't think you understand the flash mentality of the arabs. They love bling. It's how they define themselves. New phones, cars. They have nothing else to define themselves by except bling since everything is forbidden.

Mirah Tries To Make Java Fun With Ruby Syntax

Exclamation mark! Re:Eight Words (444 comments)

I think the above comment said it best: Java? Do you mean the language itself or the modern frameworks which have buried the language under a ton of various XML files? Java itself ain't that bad. The frameworks and XML hell designed by vendors to lock you in... definitely awful. Enterprise software is the problem.

Spinach Could Be Used For Hydrogen Fuel

Exclamation mark! Re:Stop wasting food (105 comments)

Maybe that is exactly what they should be doing. The key problem is that there are far to many people on this planet. With higher prices this should reduce the population explosion and maybe give us some sort of balance. I reckon getting down to 2-3 billion is enough. No need to kill anyone just fewer children due to high costs.

Happy New Year text prematurely blows up suicide b

Exclamation mark! Exclamation mark! writes  |  more than 3 years ago

Exclamation mark! (1961328) writes "A suicide bomber's plan to detonate explosives in Central Moscow on New Year's Eve was foiled when she received an unexpected text message that caused her deadly payload to blow up too early, according to news reports.

The message wishing her a happy new year came hours before the unnamed woman was to set off her suicide belt near Red Square, an act of terrorism that could have killed hundreds of people, The Leader-Post reported. She ended up dying at a safe house instead."
