Wouldn't this particular comment fully reflect the opinions of the JCS? Just sorta seems to be their thing.

Most IT Workers Don't Have STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) Degrees

Gilmoure Re:STEM education is great but it's not everything (655 comments)

I call them brilliant idiots. Very smart in some ways but rather clueless in others. Funny thing is, 25 years ago, working with rocket scientists (they designed rocket motors for NASA and DoD), saw same thing. PC Load Letter totally flummoxed them.

Why Does Windows Have Terrible Battery Life?

Gilmoure Re:Power management is HARD. (558 comments)

Exactly! Apple just comes up with pretty boxes that sheeple like to buy so they can show off at home on coffee table. Most apple users don't even know how to open boxes so never try and use their 2x slower/4x costlier toy computers. Apple lucky so many (l)users have so much money to throw away over apple boxen.

Just look at the source code, comment out what you don't like and compile.

Most IT Workers Don't Have STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) Degrees

Gilmoure Re:STEM education is great but it's not everything (655 comments)

Someone that comes from a STEM field is trained to think logically

Please tell this to the scientists and engineers I support. At least once a day I get My job failed! or X doesn't run!. Apparently, noting down details, such as what system you're on, what error messages received, etc, is for suckers. Or maybe they assume IT techs can read their minds. I know a lot of them think we have magic wands we can wave and make x, y, and z happen.

Any multiple processor type hardware test rigs?

Gilmoure Gilmoure writes  |  more than 3 years ago

Dark Jupiter Mass may be hiding in Oort Cloud

Gilmoure Gilmoure writes  |  more than 4 years ago

Gilmoure writes "Submitted to Icarus: "A Bayesian statistical analysis suggests that the probability of the companion hypothesis is comparable to or greater than the probability of the null hypothesis of a statistical fluke. Such a companion could also have produced the detached Kuiper Belt object Sedna. The putative companion could be easily detected by the recently launched Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE)." --John J. Matese, Daniel P. Whitmire (Submitted on 26 Apr 2010)"

Replacements for Adobe Creative Suite 3 apps?

Gilmoure Gilmoure writes  |  more than 4 years ago

Gilmoure writes "With rumors of Adobe not supporting Creative Suite 3 applications on Mac OS X 10.6, I was wondering what Open Source apps folks would recommend to replace Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver? If the apps can work with the native file formats, all the better but if they provide the same functionality, that's still good. I have several designer friends that are looking forward to the speed boost of OS X 10.6 but don't want to go through the Adobe upgrades so soon after the CS2 to CS3 upgrades. Especially when Adobe's already working on CS5."

Where's all the cool stuff?

Gilmoure Gilmoure writes  |  more than 11 years ago

Where's my Newton based tablet? Where's my Firewire based home theater setup? How come I'm driving a '70 Impala (454, 3.73:1 Posi) instead of my flying car. Ok, I can answer that one; a big block anything is just a blast to drive. Thank G*d I'm paid milage. Don't know how I'd afford the 93 Octane otherwise. Just wish I had an overdrive tranny for the highway. Nothing like blasting along at 4k in a 32 year old vehicle, just waiting for something else to fail.
