"Big Bang Signal" Could All Be Dust

Grow Old Timber Re:It's about time ... (89 comments)

How true the red shift could be from the cosmic dust getting in the way. A sort of filter effect. Let's ask the Pope.

Wikipedia? NASA.gov? Google search? "Electric sun theory" is good if you understand electrical properties. I think it's a likely scenario myself. The universe is electric in its' nature..

Massive Study Searching For Genes Behind Intelligence Finds Little

Grow Old Timber It's survival of the smartest fast foward eons. (269 comments)

Where did the Neanderthal go? Absorbed. How did our brains evolve over apes? Dietary change from our migration no doubt. Hell maybe the sun altered some DNA passed down through the ages. Let's hope it doesn't reverse the trend. We haven't seen everything the sun is capable of. yet.

Comcast Using JavaScript Injection To Serve Ads On Public Wi-Fi Hotspots

Grow Old Timber Re:Terms and Conditions (230 comments)

And AFAIK the article I read about the free wi-fi is ONLY for other comcast users that have similar devices enabled in their home spaces. Not everyone gets to use the Comcast "free" WiFi. Comcast put it this way to encourage customers to become part of their WiFi system. "Where ever you go you can get free WiFi from other Comcast user participants" (A paraphrase). Like one guy here said use your own router DON"T LEASE. please...

New US Airstrikes In Iraq Intended to Protect Important Dam

Grow Old Timber Re:US policy: first arm them then bomb (215 comments)

All this talk of "dams' is really about the other energy, OIL. Notice there is NO mention of the oil supply being threatened? The crude supply "we" discovered? That brought about the "Sunni Awakening" When we let them know the tribal leaders could receive profits (or not) That is what got them on "our side" initially. Not the "surge" as the right wingers claimed. Watch how little is mentioned of the Oil supply we fought the war for (our beloved oil execs) The news will be filled with attacks defending just all the other energy sources. SAD SAD SAD and obvious as hell.

Old Doesn't Have To Mean Ugly: Squeezing Better Graphics From Classic Consoles

Grow Old Timber A Win98SE console ROCKS! (167 comments)

Was anxious to use all those cracked programs from the 90s. Rigged up a Win98 machine and what a blast from the past! Sure the drivers can be a pain to hunt down but everything works like it used to. Simple Fast and Free with all the stuff I kept on file. Audio editors MIDI editors, wav recorders etc. The hardest part was finding equip (CPUs and chipsets) that work in the 98 realm.

FCC Warned Not To Take Actions a Republican-Led FCC Would Dislike

Grow Old Timber Re:By that logic... (338 comments)

Don't do anything that will upset the stock price of the telco internet companies. We know how much they are wringing out of us MONTHLY. Pay no attention to the ads on TV about passing legislation limiting FREE TV. It's just the telco companies saying they don't want to have to pay a fee for content they are using.. I say let the bastards pay for free TV. We know how much they are making EVERY FUCKING MONTH!

If anyone is paranoid its' the US with good reason too I might ad. The truth is hard to deal with when you lie a lot. So stop being such a bad liar.

The Milky Way Is Much Less Massive Than Previous Thought

Grow Old Timber Gravity? How about magnetic fields?... (119 comments)

Helioshperes as well as our own Ionosphere (magnetic field) have shown that magnetism is a universal force to be reckoned with. Indeed gravity could be just a magnetic effect on an atomic scale. The more mass the more effect. Electrons pulsing in a atom synchronizing with identical atoms become a united energy. That's what holds things together. And what gravity is, basically. A united atomic force. Too simple? .

The Misleading Fliers Comcast Used To Kill Off a Local Internet Competitor

Grow Old Timber Re:Get used to this... (250 comments)

All that writing and you never covered the fact that no one will buyout a municipal ISP. Or "merge" and that's a BIG consideration. Why the negativity and 'speaking for us' Slashdotters??? I think a lot of these responses are from paid employees of the providers, Eh? And what are they so afraid of...it failing? No it might be what we actually need for balance. And this is not "health care" so why even try to scare people by mentioning it.

Buckyballs and Diamonoids used to create molecular diodes

Grow Old Timber Grow Old Timber writes  |  about two weeks ago

Grow Old Timber (1071718) writes "Scientists working at the Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Sciences (SIMES) claim to have created a molecule-sized electronic component just a few nanometers long that conducts electricity in only the one direction. In essence, a rectifier diode, but one so small that it may one day help replace much bulkier diodes and other semiconductors found on today's integrated circuits to produce incredibly compact, super-fast electronic devices."

Will Microsoft deliver service pack 4 for XP before the deadline?

Grow Old Timber Grow Old Timber writes  |  about 7 months ago

Grow Old Timber (1071718) writes "Would they go through the expense to do a final service pack before the end of the the support date in an effort to keep the systems around and from switching to another OS, like Linux?
If they are going to offer some sort of paid support, wouldn't it be smart to get as many people on board before? The reason I ask is; I am tried of the endless updates Win7 has to go through every time I log on and off. XP just works better. Until Win9 makes a debut..."
