Zappos Hacked: Internal Systems Breached

IrishMASMS Not surprising (122 comments)

For those in the Vegas IT/InfoSec community and have heard the stories (or have firsthand experience) of their hiring/screening process, this was only a matter of time. If you are screening out the folks with the hacker/InfoSec mindset (those that think differently/outside the box), are you hiring the best folks for the InfoSec role?

Seems the 'cool kids club' at Zappo's was not enough to defeat the attackers.

What RSS Feeds Do You Use?

IrishMASMS Which RSS feeds? Where do you start? (243 comments)

First I will add a plug for https://www.bloglines.com/ â" RSS feeds where ever I can log in, via HTTPS. Great for those feeds I read whenever & everywhere; and for those I only check when waiting to board the airplane. In my bloglines collection I have around 400 feeds, which will grow after looking through these threads. :) Some selections that hopefully no one else has mentioned:

Periodical Blacklisted411 disappeared again?

IrishMASMS IrishMASMS writes  |  more than 6 years ago

IrishMASMS writes "It appears the periodical Blacklisted411 ( http://www.blacklisted411.com/ ) has disappeared again. After a little research as to why I had not received my copy lately; it appears they have stopped publishing. Their web site is the default Network solutions page; and I found a forum posting regarding the situation: http://www.binrev.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29590 which also mentions that the Blacklisted folks have done this before.

Is it that hard to be up front & tell your subscribers that you are going to stop publishing? Perhaps, even a refund on subscriptions?"

IrishMASMS writes "Back on November 21, 2002 Slashdot announced SpamArchive.org had just been launched. I configured my spam filters to submit to these guys. Well, the last few I have sent rejected; giving a 553 (sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts) error. Did some digging, and come to find out the SpamArchive.org site is just a placeholder; and the WHOIS shows virtualclicks.com aka PSI-USA, Inc. dba Domain Robot aka a Robert Farris now owns the domain. Some searching on the net indicates the fellow is a domain squatter. Anyone know the story as to what happened, and if the Spam Archive project is now dead? Was the Spam Archive project even a benefit or value added to the fight against spam?"
