So do it for them. As has been stated GitHub did this already, didn't see a crap ton of whining then.

US Doctors Back Circumcision

IshmaelDS Re:Lies (1264 comments)

I don't recall seeing anywhere that it will be forced on you, I understood it to be a recommendation and not a forced act. Please let me know if I'm wrong. Providing I'm correct, no one is going to force you to chop off your foreskin.

It's New. It's a League. It's for Gamers. It's the League for Gamers! (Video)

IshmaelDS Re:No prompter (62 comments)

Plus, you will learn to think faster to fill the dead air (at least how to think up BS, if not actual content). Trust me, it is worth it to learn how to speak without using "uh" and "um." Granted, doing it in front of people is somewhat harder, but the basic idea is the exact same.

Why would I want to fill the silence with BS instead of a filler word? at least with a filler word like "uh" or "um" I'm not BSing people.

PS4: What Sony Should and Shouldn't Do

IshmaelDS Re:keyboard and mouse (406 comments)

*I haven't tried to use a keyboard and mouse so this is based on past experience with the PS2 That only helps if they also make it a req of the games to work with a keyboard and mouse, or allow re-mapping of the controls at the system level to make it so you can USE the keyboard and mouse in all the games.

Why 2012 Will Be the Year of the Android Tablet

IshmaelDS Re:iPad vs. all Android tablets (584 comments)

Which I have happen all the time with my Iphone 3G, I have had apps that had to be removed because I updated to OS and they stopped working. I reverted my OS and was able to use the apps again, so now I'm stuck back at the factory installed firmware because otherwise I lose apps I paid for. Not to mention each update makes my whole phone slower and feel a lot more sluggish

Essential Open Source Tools For Windows Admins

IshmaelDS Re:I hate InfoWorld (226 comments)

It's not installable on a server OS and it's also not licensed to run in a commercial environment with more than 10 PC's. Chances are if your a full time admin for a business you have more than 10 PC's in the office.

Are 'Real Names' Policies an Abuse of Power?

IshmaelDS Re:Easy solution (318 comments)

A griefer could then report you, so your solution isn't ideal.

What's a griefer? basically someone who does things purposely to cause other people grief. They enjoy making people upset or mad, and will take the slightest thing as an excuse to start causing you grief.

IshmaelDS Re:Better than facebook (1223 comments)

Depends on your settings, you can set the app to only upload when on a wi-fi connection, or only upload videos if on wi-fi and photos when connected to your mobile data, or do both on mobile data, or not upload auto anything.

30 Creative 404 Error Pages

IshmaelDS Re:Since that site is /.'ed, try this one (166 comments)

FYI They don't clean up their links. I clicked on 4 or 5 and only 1 actually took me to a 404, the rest brought me to a godaddy ad page, and google.

Ask Slashdot: How Do I Scrub Pirated Music From My Collection?

IshmaelDS Re:Ripped music (758 comments)

Wrong question, the question is can they prove that you DON'T own that CD and never have? You are innocent until proven guilty. Also I have been ripping CD's for the years, some of those CD's have been broken, or lost, I don't keep receipts for decades, prove I never bought it.

Increased Power Usage Leads to Mistaken Pot Busts for Bitcoin Miners

IshmaelDS Re:Has this actually happened? (411 comments)

It is in fact a "safety inspection". I believe they do need a warrant to get into your home unless you let them in, I don't know if the would need extra evidence to get the warrant or not. here is a link. BCLocalNews. There is also a $5200 that can be charged to you regardless of if you have a grow op or not, though it is not always charged. here is another link Globe&Mail

NVIDIA Gets Away With Bait-and-Switch

IshmaelDS Re:Summary is misleading (336 comments)

but if the lawsuit was filed three years ago and the laptops were busted then, shouldn't they be getting equivalent value for the laptops of that time, ie, if their laptop was worth $1500 3 years ago they should be getting a laptop worth $1500 today. That is when the claim was filed.

Goodbye, VGA

IshmaelDS Re:That's one heck of a "long goodbye" (356 comments)

They are hot-plugable on any system if you want to risk killing your ps/2 controller. As the poster right above you pointed out Wikipedia PS/2. Having said that I hot-plug them all the time and have only killed a couple ports. Those that do die I grab a USB keyboard and voila they are back up and running.

Canon's Image Verification System Cracked

IshmaelDS Re:Cryptography FAIL (118 comments)

That's not true, if I wait till after it's been copied off the camera that means I only know what was submitted is free of tampering from that time on. I have no clue what was done to it before you submitted it. This is why the encryption needs to be on the camera.

When Your Company Remote-Wipes Your Personal Phone

IshmaelDS Re:we have the same policy at work (446 comments)

Not only that but from the company's perspective what if they fire that employee. He now has all the info he needs to do exactly what your talking about. Doesn't matter if the company had no idea that he was forwarding the email obviously their security isn't secure enough.

ISOHunt loses in courty

IshmaelDS IshmaelDS writes  |  more than 4 years ago

IshmaelDS (981095) writes ""A U.S. federal court in California has issued a summary judgment against Canadian-based isoHunt (and its owner Gary Fung), ruling that the site violates U.S. copyright law by inducing copyright infringement. The judge ruled that the isoHunt case is little different from other U.S. cases such as Napster and Grokster, therefore concluding that there is no need to proceed to a full trial and granting Columbia Pictures request for summary judgment. "
Isohunt has lost in court, but interestingly there was no actualy copyright infringment proven. The judge decided that because of ruling's like Napster and Grokster they have "induced" infringement, even though the infringment wasn't proven."
