Right now I'm loving Openbox + Tint2 (for now) ... does what I absolutely need and keeps the system resources available for actual software.

Wouldn't 300+ million Americans each receiving $1 million be a bit more than $350 million? Like 6 zeros more?

Chrome Helping Other Browsers Out, Says Opera CEO

JeepFanatic Re:I think we're already there (187 comments)

When Chrome came out I had many people who never would have any idea about new browsers come to me and ask for my thoughts on it. Any type of Google related news has a way of making it out into the public. As a result, many discussions get started about the benefits of different browsers and even allowed me to mention other browsers to people that they had never heard of before.

Wikimedia Simplifies By Moving To Ubuntu

JeepFanatic Re:Is this really a good idea? (215 comments)

I'll probably get modded Troll for this but whatever ...

But as a server distro, I'm not so sure. I'm surprised that Wikimedia didn't go with a distribution that's more established for server needs.

If you have an argument to make about the OS's merits as a server then make it based on facts. Tell us why you don't think it's a perfect fit on the server. Don't just say "I'm not so sure" and leave it hanging there. Support your position with something that can be argued.

JeepFanatic (993244) writes "A number of us on Google+ yesterday promoted #TakeiTuesday (started by +Stephanie Van Pelt) and got it to trend to #2 while posting to Twitter and Facebook to get George to show G+ some love too. Today he replied on Facebook saying if we can prove G+ is not a "ghost town" by getting 250K followers on his "empty" account there he'll start using G+."

Which comic books to start my 3 yr old with?

JeepFanatic JeepFanatic writes  |  more than 2 years ago

JeepFanatic (993244) writes "I've never been one to read comic books however I've always enjoyed superheros. My 3 yr old son is really into superheros (especially Spiderman) and I thought it would be a fun thing to do together to start reading comics to him. Any suggestions on comics that would be more appropriate to start him out with?"

Although Mr. Pasquini couldn't say just how many users, or how many countries, were affected by the intermittent blackouts, reports from blogs and chat rooms around the world cited problems with Microsoft's Windows Live portal, which provides users with access to the company's Hotmail e-mail service.

Saboteurs may have cut Mideast telecom cables: UN

JeepFanatic JeepFanatic writes  |  more than 6 years ago

JeepFanatic writes "It seems that the UN is taking seriously the possibility that the recent cuts to underseas telecom cables in the middle east could be the act of saboteurs.

From TFA:

"We do not want to preempt the results of ongoing investigations, but we do not rule out that a deliberate act of sabotage caused the damage to the undersea cables over two weeks ago," the UN agency's head of development, Sami al-Murshed, told AFP.

"Some experts doubt the prevailing view that the cables were cut by accident, especially as the cables lie at great depths under the sea and are not passed over by ships," Murshed said on the sidelines of a conference on cyber-crime held in Gulf state of Qatar.
