Ah, so we're judging the victim here!

So you have already decided the outcome of the trial already.
If Martin straddling Zimmerman when he was shot (as the forensic evidence says he was) then he is not the victim, he was the perp.

Employers Switching From Payroll Checks To Prepaid Cards With Fees

JohnRoss1968 Minimum Wage Laws?? (1103 comments)

The laws say the company has to pay you minimum wages, it doesn't say that is how much you will actually receive. Next step is for the company that is paying you to get part of the money you are being charged as a kick-back. Or just issuing their own cards then charging outrageous fees to recoup some of what they are paying you.
But of course that will never happen here in the good old USA because all of our companies are honest and follow the highest moral standards.

Xbox One Used Game Policy Leaks: Publishers Get a Cut of Sale

JohnRoss1968 Greed. (379 comments)

"this would unquestionably boost revenue for game publishers, giving the smart ones an opportunity to step away from the $60 business model and adopt pricing practices seen on Steam and iTunes"
They will accept the boost in revenue but ignore the "opportunity" to step away from the $60 business model. More likely they will take a cut of the used games and keep their prices as high as they are now.
Plus since the used game market wont be as attractive to consumers they can now raise their prices instead of lowering them.

EA Responds To Its Appearance In the 'Worst Company In America' Poll

JohnRoss1968 Who the hell does he think he is? (208 comments)

'Many continue to claim the Always-On function in SimCity is a DRM scheme. It’s not. People still want to argue about it. We can’t be any clearer – it’s not. Period"
We gamers, Your customers, are telling you WE DO NOT WANT the Always-On function in Sim-City or ANY GAME. You can say its not a DRM scheme all day long.We dont care if you call it a DRM Scheme or a function or a bonus or whatever. WE DO NOT WANT ALWAYS-ON CRAP.

How thickheaded can you possible be. People are telling you you don't want it and you are arguing with your customers about what it is.

Microsoft Kinect 2.0 Specifications Leak, Includes Support For USB 3.0

JohnRoss1968 Downgraded much? (49 comments)

I remember see articles about how the Kinect 2 would be able to see every joint of every finger. You could type in mid-air and it ould understand it and it could even read sign language. Now they are saying it can see if your hand is open or closed.
What a disappointment.

The End Is Near for GameStop

JohnRoss1968 The End Is Near for Console Gaming (393 comments)

That is what the title should be.
I do not play any games on consoles anymore. We have 2 XBox 360s but I wont play them. We also have had Wii's, N64s (a fav of mine) as well as other consoles.
I play all of my games on my PC. It has a better selection of games. The games are easier to deal with. Plus I refuse to use controllers when I have a mouse and keyboard that work so much better.
Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot here. They are trying to get the XBox series to be their gateway into your living-room. Imagine the advantage they would have had if the XBox 720 (or whatever its going to be called) was the only console that did not have these stupid anti-consumer restrictions built into it.
Even the Ouya game system is dropping the ball. Sure it doesn't have all of the restriction the big boys have but I have to wonder, since it is powered by Android, why not include the Google store and all of its apps. If it had that I would buy it in a heartbeat. Then all I would need is a way to use Android apps on my Windows desktop.

CVS to sell $100 Sylvania netbook and $179 ereader

JohnRoss1968 JohnRoss1968 writes  |  more than 4 years ago

JohnRoss1968 (574825) writes "From Engadget.

Watch out Kmart, CVS is getting its very own $100 smartbook and $180 e-reader and there's nothing you can do about it! We've gotten a hold of some marketing materials which confirm that this fall your neighborhood drugstore will be stocking a Sylvania netbook running Windows CE and a color e-reader. There aren't too many details on the little laptop itself, although we can only guess that the thing will be very similar to many of the other cheap smartbooks we've seen lately. Oh, it does claim to be able to stream video / YouTube, but we'll believe it when we see it play Bieber's Segway escape without freezing up. There are a few more details on the 7-inch LookBook e-reader after the break, but it will pack 512MB of storage space, a full keyboard and will have access to Kobo's e-book store. Seems like some good old cheap tech to us, but we're willing to bet that more than a few CVS shoppers will be tempted to throw one of these into the basket along with the deodorant and shampoo.

How cheap do you think things like net-books and tablet computers will get, and can you think of odd uses for ultra-cheap tablets and net-books.
