Microsoft Unveils 'Pink' Phones As Kin One and Two

Kranerian Way to go (278 comments)

"These phones have no downloadable apps, no games, not even a calendar. They're not meant to be expandable smart phones; instead very good messaging phones."

Nice job, Microsoft. Way to ignore the growing trends in favor of your own way. After all, you certainly know better than those lousy consumers.

In all fairness, though, they'll probably sell like hotcakes in the niche market they're designed for. I just don't see it as a very big market.

Will Smith In For Independence Day 2 & 3

Kranerian Foundation (464 comments)

The article says,

"If true, this is bad news for the already delayed Asimov Foundation trilogy: it’s likely Roland Emmerich will direct the Independance Day film after his latest film Anonymous about the life of William Shakespeare, delaying the Foundation start date even further."

Bad news? No. They seem to be under the impression that we want him to direct the Foundation Trilogy. Anything bringing the possibility of him not doing it is good news indeed.

Mozilla Exec Urges Switch From Google To Bing

Kranerian Not going to happen (527 comments)

Even with this, there's still too much of a stigma associated with Microsoft and Bing for many internet users to take them seriously. Leave Bing to the uncaring and the uninformed.

AT&T blocks from customers

Kranerian This won't end well (11 comments)

On one side, they've managed to pick the single most capable internet community when it comes to getting their way against all odds. And if by some miracle the site should remain blocked, it sets a terrible precedent for internet censorship.

I'm never going to click on ads whether or not I can see them. There's no reason to have them sitting around annoying me.

Tsunami Hit New York City Region In 300 BC

Kranerian Could happen again (147 comments)

I can't remember the name of it, but I read about an island somewhere off the coast of Africa. It's a giant chunk of rock that's split in such a way that its eventual collapse into the ocean is near certain. When it happens, the amount of water suddenly displaced could potentially cause a tsunami that we here on the East coast would definitely notice.

How To Get High-Schoolers Involved In Real Science?

Kranerian Re:FIRST Robotics (314 comments)

I really wish that I had mod points for the parent here. Having been on a FIRST team myself, I cannot possibly overestimate the value of everything I learned and experienced there. The organization not only teaches students how to use science and technology, but also makes it extremely enjoyable.
