ever fly from Belfast to the uk during the troubles? There was always a lovely special branch officer waiting to ask you your reason for being in N. Ireland. Certainly this was the case arriving at Glasgow

Can't remember the comedian who made the joke-
"I'm half Irish and half palastinian. We used to spend our family holidays at the airport"

look at all the servers letting cracked copies of call of duty4 play

Stop, armed police! Put down your MP3 player

Library Spoff (582122) writes "The Guardian amongst others report on armed police arresting a man listening to his MP3 player and took a sample of his DNA after after a fellow commuter mistook his music player for a gun. Even though he is completely innocent his DNA will now stay on the UK DNA database."

EA pushes ad-backed FPS game - Battlefield Heroes.

Library Spoff Library Spoff writes  |  about 7 years ago

Library Spoff (582122) writes "According to the BBC, EA will release the PC game Battlefield Heroes which will be available only online later this year and will not be sold in shops. Battlefield Heroes is designed to run on older PCs and the game is to be supported by adverts and micro payments. It's more cartoony and with more emphasis on participation and fun than skill and strategy. I don't play FPS that often as 10 yr olds tend to kill me easily. Hopefully this will bring some noobs even I can kill!"

Library Spoff (582122) writes "LaCie have announced the release of software to allow you to print Lightscribe discs on Linux. One more reason to avoid booting into Windows for me. If they could just speed up the process so a disc doesn't take 20m. From the press release -K3b Founder Sebastian Trueg said, "We're happy to see that LaCie is developing tools for Linux users, and are pleased to work with them to make it happen. With the LaCie LightScribe Labeler for Linux, K3b users now have access to the latest disc-labeling technology from LightScribe, and a complete burning solution thanks to LaCie."

Minimum system requirements: LaCie LightScribe Labeler for Linux has been validated on Linux Mandriva 2006/Fedora Core 5/SUSE 10/Unbuntu 6.6. 4L should run on any x86-based Linux distribution using Linux kernel 2.6 and RPM"

Library Spoff (582122) writes "According to this BBC article, the total music sales in the first half of 2006 fell to $13.7bn (£7.4bn). But digital sales rose by 106% to $945m (£510m), representing 11% of the worldwide recorded music market. Here comes the fud... The report by The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) claims that the sale of physical formats such as CDs fell by 10% under pressure from cheap illegal copies. So despite a 106% increase in digital sales, the 10% decline can be attributed to piracy."
