Interesting. I was thinking first to file would favor but patent trolls but your explanation makes sense to me.

Supreme Court May Tune In To Music Download Case

Agreed. Probably should have written "illegal" instead of "wrong".

Supreme Court May Tune In To Music Download Case

Lovedumplingx Re:Look (339 comments)

It may sound like a stupid defense but honestly some people out there just didn't/still don't know that sharing certain (copyrighted) files is wrong.

About 5 years ago (from what I've heard as this was before my time) someone at my company was selling DVDs to co-workers and made some statement via an email to everyone in the company that it wasn't a problem if he ran out as he'd just make some more. He truly had no idea that what he was doing was illegal until the legal department and the IT department blasted him.

No one reads the FBI warnings at the beginning of films (and music doesn't really have one of those) so ignorance really is valid point one could make.

Lovedumplingx Polar Bear Plunge for the Special Olympics (596 comments)

I generally don't give for charities but I think the Special Olympics are a great organization and doing a Polar Bear Plunge along with it is just a fun time for friends...so that's how I give.

Which Game Series Would You Reboot?

Lovedumplingx Re:Wing Commander (1120 comments)

I was thinking this exact same thing. The original Wing Commander would be great or even the Wing Commander: Privateer. Now that I think about it Privateer would be a pretty bitching MMO too.

ACLU Sues DHS Over Unlawful Searches and Detention

Lovedumplingx Re:What took them so long? (460 comments)

I'd rather my plane not blow up or get hi-jacked. If that means someone needs to get searched then so be it. Planes are private property - if you don't like it don't fly on it. You can always drive to your destination, or take a boat ride.

Yes...they are private property. So WTF is the federal government doing getting their noses involved?

ACLU Sues DHS Over Unlawful Searches and Detention

Lovedumplingx Re:Why, oh why. (460 comments)

Finally, why didn't he just convert the cash to a money order or cashiers check?

Well the article states that he was returning from a Campaign for Liberty event with the ticket sales, concessions, etc. so maybe he didn't have time to convert it to anything else.

Senator Applauds Pirate Bay Trial, Chides Canada

Lovedumplingx Re:It often is a loss, and here's why (526 comments)

That's not true at all.

We know what people DID before piracy and that was not see the film, hear the music, or play the game.

But the converse of the argument is that everyone is still subjected to the wanton product placements and blatant advertising in products these days. Producers of these things should still be happy that they're getting advertising revenue from these products because even though piracy may take a meager sum from them they probably made most of that back by shoving products down everyone's throats both users and pirates alike.

Researchers Show How To Take Control of Windows 7

Lovedumplingx Re:Physical Security is a big issue (325 comments)

I was thinking that same thing.

Sure it's not really much of a problem for the home user but for the businessman/government worker who travels and leaves his laptop or has it stolen this means that the data on that machine will be compromised.

College Police Think Using Linux Is Suspicious Behavior

Lovedumplingx Re:What is a regular "B.C. Operating System"? (1079 comments)

That's what I thought of too! "What the hell is the 'regular B.C. operating system'?"

Then I realized that the cops are just retarded apparently and couldn't take the time to figure out what they were writing about.

How To Help Our Public Schools With Technology?

Lovedumplingx Vouchers (378 comments)

Give the children vouchers so they can go to better schools and learn about technology as they need it through life in the better opportunities that they'll have from not being forced into the government monopolized system?

Is Anyone Buying T-Mobile's Googlephone?

Lovedumplingx Re:I love it (454 comments)

Well basically the quirks are small things. Like there's currently no way to manage where applications are stored. There's 1 way to do it but it's not intuitive. So there needs to be an app made to handle that.

I haven't really found a way to manage the SIM card information either. Getting all of my contacts was easy but I have no idea how to save a new contact to the SIM card. Again this is probably a simple new application that can be made but it's just not there now.

But I do love it and it really is pretty intuitive overall.

Combine this data with the camera images and you can also identify that vehicle.

Bit of a stretch I think but maybe not far off.

Which is the best Android Programming book?

Lovedumplingx Lovedumplingx writes  |  more than 5 years ago

Lovedumplingx (245300) writes "Being new to mobile programming but absolutely in love with my G1 I started writing an application that I thought should be relatively simple. Armed with the SDK I set off into lands which soon became confusing as there were some aspects of the paradigm that I just wasn't figuring out. This leads me to the question at hand. Which Android Programming books are the best? I've heard decent things about http://commonsware.com/Android/index.html but what about http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596521479/ or http://oreilly.com/catalog/9781934356173/? Just hoping to get some help from the /. group on what they found helpful."
