Japanese and Swiss Watchmakers Scoff At Smartwatches

Majestix Is the smart watch really meant to be a timepiece? (399 comments)

Is the real purpose of the smart watch to tell time? i contend that the purpose is more so a less obtrusive way of viewing smartphone notifications than for telling time. Just my two cents.

GPS Tracking Without a Warrant Declared Legal

Majestix Re:..like two elderly folks with dementia. (926 comments)

No, quite the contrary, yet eerily similar, the Senate (and congress) can be liked to a bunch of two year old children. They are interested in everything and have the attention span of...well...two year old children...

US Students Struggle With Understanding of the 'Equal' Sign

Majestix Re:I guess I'm stupid, too. (1268 comments)

Can i ask, delimiters for what?

Early on in HS (i've been out of HS for...oh..25yrs) we learned that in a math equation, you use parens to group parts of an equation to, much as in programming, control the order of precedence in evaluation. Looking at that made perfect sense to me. But i also was considered above average in intelligence in my day.

Or as i recall hearing parents say, that must be the New Math. lol

Too Much Multiplayer In Today's Games?

Majestix As for me... (362 comments)

40+yo gamer here...

Multiplayer games have always been the more interesting games for me. That human factor, in my opinion adds
more unpredictability to a game. The last single player game i played was Prototype.

But has it ever been? Give us a moment to actually notice (snicker) and see some progress on the Japanese side and i'd like to think that might kickstart something. Eh, we'll see.

How do you stay tech savvy?

Majestix Majestix writes  |  more than 5 years ago

Majestix (41486) writes "Dear SlashDot,

I was asked today by a good friend, how i stay tech savvy. She wondered if there were any magazines i read, blogs or ezines i frequented, etc. Personally, other than regularly buying one or two linux magazines and a subscription to "Nuts & Volts" and "Make" magazine, I pretty much search for things as they catch my interest or the job requires it.

How do YOU, fellow slashdotters (is that legal?) stay tech savvy?

Thanks much!
[wow, my first slashdot submission...im giddy]"
