When I was in college, I calculated that if I jumped out my high dorm window, it would take about four seconds to reach the ground. That seemed like more than enough time to reconsider everything and change my mind, so I decided not to jump.

I think the inevitable second thoughts on a months-long fatal impact cruise to Mars would make the journey pretty unpleasant.
