$60 Light Bulb Debuts On Earth Day

If the damn bulb (and thus, the technology behind it) was so damn good, I'd buy it. Given the outrageous price, lack of dimming (entire house is Lutron equipped with Maestro and Grafik dimmers), and off-colors across manufacturers, etc., I'll gladly keep using my secret stash of 100w, 120w, BR30s and 40s. I'm good for at least 10 years.

The Spanish Link In Cracking the Enigma Code

MobileDude Re:False claim? (67 comments)

Massive oversimplification of the work done by Rejewski, Zygalski, and Rozycki as well as the reason the work was shifted to Bletchley. A little something called 'the invasion of Poland,' perhaps?

Also, the material provided by German Hans-Thilo Schmidt was critical to the initial break.

Jobs Wanted To Destroy Android

MobileDude Re:and what about xerox's stuff? (988 comments)

QUOTE: "Odd coming from someone who stole the GUI and the mouse from Xerox."

Too true. Jobs/Apple became exactly what they supposedly fought against. 1984 commercial? Yeah, look at what their locked ipod/iphone/ipad has become. Whining about Android? nothing here to see....

Green energy == flying cars

I want both of them. Not expecting either. Would prefer the government quit burning through cash and let the market decide. The "logic" of the remainder of your post is not Mensa material....

MobileDude Re:For being the opposite of Bush (1721 comments)

QUOTE: "This win was more a rebuke to the conservatives than anything else."

So, in other words, the premise of the '09 award is a sham? The committee has lowered itself to making trivial political statements?

Nevermind, they already trashed their credibility with Arafat and Gore. Give him an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, Grammy, or Razzi for all I care. Do it to spread your political view and you're an imbecile.

Suit Seeks 'A La Carte' TV Channel Choices

MobileDude Sign me up for the class action suit (350 comments)

My take is forcing people to pay for channels they don't nor ever will watch is the same as mandating everyone pay for a meal at the new restaurant in town even if you don't eat it.

Face it: 80% of the networks will fail if ala carte is adopted. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING. Let the crap networks sink or swim. Once they die, take that bandwidth and GET ME MORE HD CHANNELS, dammit!
