3 Recent Flights Make Unscheduled Landings, After Disputes Over Knee Room

Mr.123 Re:my solution is the gym (818 comments)

Up until a few years ago, Cathay Pacific had clamshell non-reclining economy seats. You slide your entire chair forward to get some recline. I absolutely loved it, but apparently everyone else hated it. They took it all out a few years ago and replaced it with the traditional reclining seat. I doubt it'll make a come back anytime soon anywhere.

FCC Public Comment Period For Net Neutrality Ends Tomorrow, July 15

Mr.123 Re:Don't forget to comment (69 comments)

Also commented a few weeks ago. My senator (NY) sent me a couple of follow up emails since. They're canned emails, but at least someone is reading them.

Apple Will Refund $32.5M To Settle In-App Purchase Complaints With FTC

Mr.123 Re:I'll believe it when I see it (252 comments)

I've opened a lot of accounts in the last 3 years with nothing attached to them for older people. It can absolutely be done.

iOS Developer Site At Core of Facebook, Apple Watering Hole Attack

Mr.123 malware (88 comments)

The site in question has been hosting malware on and off for over a year now. They were flagged at least half a dozen times by google over the past year for hosting malware. The site then went down for weeks while overhauling the entire forum software and then bam, this happens. Unfortunately some very good discussions happen on the site and I just can't quit using it.

Obama Pushes For Cheaper Pennies

Mr.123 Re:Get rid of them (825 comments)

We also ditched $1 and $2 paper currency for $1 and $2 coins. That was also a good move in getting rid of those ratty dollar bills. The US cold easily do the same thing as you already have $1 coins in circulation. About the only people who will notice a change are the strippers who will now have use their coin slots.

Wait what? How am I suppose to tip strippers without $1 bills!?!

Some Critics Suggest Apple Boycott Over Chinese Working Conditions

Mr.123 Re:It would be a good start (744 comments)

Chinese Readers on the ‘iEconomy’

If not to buy Apple, what’s the substitute – Samsung? Don’t you know that Samsung’s products are from its OEM factory in Tianjin? Samsung workers’ income and benefits are even worse than those at Foxconn. If not to buy iPad – (do you think) I will buy Android Pad? Have you ever been to the OEM factories for Lenovo and ASUS? Quanta, Compaq factories of other companies are all worse than those for Apple. Not to buy iPod – (do you think) I will buy Aigo, Meizu? Do you know that Aigo’s Shenzhen factory will not pay their workers until the 19th of the second month? If you were to quit, fine, I’m sorry, your salary will be withdrawn. Foxconn never dares to do such things. First, their profit margin is higher than peers as they manufacture for Apple. Second, at least those foreign devils will regularly audit factories. Domestic brands will never care if workers live or die. I am not speaking for Foxconn. I am just speaking as an insider of this industry, and telling you some disturbing truth. — Anonymous.

DigiTimes Lends Credence To Apple-Branded TVs For 2012

Mr.123 Re:Comcast would never cooperate! (232 comments)

Yeah, I know it's unlikely, but if Apple or anyone else can pull it off, it'd be a huge reason for me to buy a new TV. The cable boxes are old, slow, and clunky. I was indeed thinking of a similar launch strategy as the iPhone. Maybe they can bring the satellite companies into play as well.

DigiTimes Lends Credence To Apple-Branded TVs For 2012

Mr.123 Re:Why so small? (232 comments)

I used a 26" LCD TV for 8 years as my living room TV. Not everyone has the space to upgrade to a 55" TV. Especially not when living in Manhattan.

DigiTimes Lends Credence To Apple-Branded TVs For 2012

Mr.123 Prediction (232 comments)

My prediction

* Runs any of the 500,000 apps in the App Store w/ iPhone/iPod/iPad as controller.
* AirPlay becomes more fluid, maybe uses new Bluetooth chips in the 4S (currently uses wifi and can be extremely laggy depending on your home wifi setup).
* Opens up new API that allows apps to overlay menu/images over TV signal (Don't like ESPN's stats on the game? Download XYZ app w/ real time stats + chat.)
* Allows Siri on iPhone 4S to control the TV, setup DVR times, search through recordings, etc.
* Announces a deal w/ TWC/Comcast/Verizon/etc to replace their cable boxes reducing my number of remotes from 3 to 1 (or 0 if I can use my iPhone).

LHC Shut Down Again — By Baguette-Dropping Bird

Mr.123 This is a joke right? (478 comments)

Where's the humor tag? I kept looking for the Onion link or humor tag. I have a hard time believing this. It's gotta be joke.

US Visitor Fingerprints To Be (Perhaps) Stored by FBI

Mr.123 Re:back at ya (503 comments)

Brazil did it briefly but then after a couple of months it just dropped off for some reason. It's already a pain in the ass to get the visa if you don't already have it. More fingerprinting and picture taking might stem the inflow of tourist dollars.
