What To Do If Police Try To Search Your Phone Without a Warrant

MugenEJ8 Other Electronic Devices (286 comments)

Because I'm an enthusiast when it comes to motorcycles and cars, I tend to keep a lot of action cameras hooked up when out at meets or when going to the track. I've been pulled over before and the police officer took the camera from my helmet and started flipping through the log. Knowing he wouldn't find anything incriminating because I had not been recording, I consented to the search...

Is this scenario protected under the precedent set by the Riley v. United States ruling?

Expert Warns: Civilian World Not Ready For Massive EMP-Caused Blackout

MugenEJ8 Re:Actual thought process (271 comments)

I love how people want to knock on <insert media outlet here>, while the other side has nightmarishly hilarious content like...

"A small black hole would suck in our entire universe. So we know it's not that. The Bermuda Triangle is often weather, and 'Lost' is a TV show." -Mary Schiavo

That took the cake for me... Someone needs to explain to that bitch what the fuck we spin around here in the Milky Way. To help them out, it sounds like "Supermassive asshole".

Retired SCOTUS Justice Wants To 'Fix' the Second Amendment

MugenEJ8 Re:Militia, then vs now (1633 comments)

At the time there were limited arms (you took about 2 minutes to reload) vs able to empty a couple clips in that same amount of time, now.

Who the f*ck modded this up? If you can't describe part of the firearm correctly, don't post... you just look like a twit.

Should Microsoft Be Required To Extend Support For Windows XP?

MugenEJ8 It's funny guys... (650 comments)

For a buncha people adamantly against Windows, there sure are a lot of people out here explaining how Microsoft should extend support for an obsolete product.

It's obsolete and dangerous to your business/personal life, like lead paint and asbestos. Please upgrade to something modern and stop moaning.

OKCupid Warns Off Mozilla Firefox Users Over Gay Rights

MugenEJ8 Re:April Fools stories are gay (1482 comments)

Thinking one group of people is subhuman, and not worthy of the same rights isn't "an opposing view", it's bigotry.

This isn't a quip at you, but I'm interested in your response; It's an honest question. Am I a bigot because I consider child molestors, rapists and nazis subhuman? These are groups of people. Some with mental health problems, others with aggressive theological views... All scourge of the earth in my eyes.

Department of Transportation Makes Rear View Cameras Mandatory

MugenEJ8 Re:What society really needs to do (518 comments)

I know plenty of people who get along just fine outside of anyplace with public transportation and no car of their own.

Its not hard, but go ahead and make excuses to avoid the problem.

Me too!

They're called deployed service-men/women.

MugenEJ8 Mandated Displays in Cars! (518 comments)

Part of me wonders if: (num_of_display_related_injuries/yr) > (num_of_injuries_related_to_not_having_a_backup_cam/yr)

Because if the above statement is true, here's another instance of our Gov't doing what it does best!

How Satellite Company Inmarsat Tracked Down MH370

MugenEJ8 Re:Flight recorder (491 comments)

Contrary to movies, spy satellites do not watch every inch of the planet. Nor can you easily steer them into another orbit for live James Bond style feeds.

ZERO spy satellites point at the open ocean, nothing interesting going on out there.

Meet SBIRS - From the page "SBIRS, considered one of the nation’s highest priority space programs, is designed to provide global, persistent, infrared surveillance capabilities to meet 21st century demands..."

I would find it illogical for the United States to only be monitoring continental lands, it would be akin to taking a picture and cropping out everything but the subject.

My bet is no government wants to out their level of sophistication in the surveillance world... It's a massive tactical advantage.

Iran Builds Mock-up of Nimitz-Class Aircraft Carrier

MugenEJ8 Re:F-35 is not just American (298 comments)

Apart from the parts which were not designed in the US, sure... Your definition of "American" seems to be based on feeling, not some sort of solid definition...

I'll walk you through my thought process...

Per Wikipedia: "It is being designed and built by an aerospace industry team led by Lockheed Martin." Now correct me if I'm wrong, but Lockheed Martin is an American company. Therefore it must be American.

I'll use another industry as an example. If Samsung produces 75% of the technology inside a television, and then sources the plastics from say China, it's still a South Korean product, not a South Korean & Chinese product. Or a car manufacturer, say Lotus, that sources an engine from Toyota, don't start saying their vehicle is British & Japanese. It's just British.

I'm not saying that the JSF project is only American, but in design and manufacturing and the majority of the funding was in fact, American.

How is what I'm saying based on feeling? It seems to me, you're trying to argue a point you can't substantiate either...

Iran Builds Mock-up of Nimitz-Class Aircraft Carrier

MugenEJ8 Re:F-35 is not just American (298 comments)

Just because a part or funding is sourced from another country, doesn't make it from that country. It's American in design and manufacturing, with parts and funding sourced from partners from around the world.

This seriously had to be clarified twice? ._.

Final Fantasy XIV Failed Due To Overly Detailed Flowerpots

MugenEJ8 Re:Damn straight. (195 comments)

I'd mod you up but ran out of points yesterday. I second everything you say in here. It just seems like the Square Enix merger was the beginning of the end for the Final Fantasy franchise. Like they decided that had so much incredible JRPG assets to pull from that they just couldn't fail... That mixed with the MMO revolution, and their mainstay brand completely lost its identify...

Truly sad days :(

Google Unveils Android Wear

MugenEJ8 Re:Tell me you don't live in the Bay Area (103 comments)

... because then I wouldn't have to worry about you plowing into me during rush hour as you inexplicably look down and raise one arm from your handlebars to poke at your fucking wrist with it.

F*ck no... Why would I want to live there? See my above comment about mileage and accidents in my life. You, however are probably one of the hypocritical pricks that check their phone while they're stationary at a red light... Meanwhile I'm waiting for your ass to leave the line because you haven't noticed the change.

Google Unveils Android Wear

MugenEJ8 Re:For the people who can't see past their nose (103 comments)

I couldn't see riding without it...

... ah yes, but can you see the road, riding with it?? :P

He's on a murdercycle making it a self correcting problem. If he's too busy paying attention to his phone to watch the road, someone will be getting a new heart, lung and kidney kidney in short order.

I'm ten times the motorist you are sir. Zero accidents @ 57k miles driven on a motorcycle, one accident in a cage when I was 17 which was 16 years ago. Do you chastise all motorists that check their watch while they drive? Or just the ones that prove a good point...

Google Unveils Android Wear

MugenEJ8 For the people who can't see past their nose (103 comments)

I've had a wearable for 4mo now and because I ride a motorcycle, it has become priceless during my commutes. I can flip tracks; I can see who's calling or messaging me and then I can answer to listen to what that person has to say.

I couldn't see riding without it...

Stanford Researchers Spot Medical Conditions, Guns, and More In Phone Metadata

MugenEJ8 Re:I DONT LIKE CHANGE (193 comments)

Subscribers get to see an article in red before it posts. Sometimes regular users do too, right before it posts.

Go figure, /. is using time travel for posts... but that doesn't make sense as there are way too many spelling mistakes.

70% of U.S. Government Spending Is Writing Checks To Individuals

MugenEJ8 Re:Makers and takers (676 comments)

Also, I work in the medical field. You know what Insurance companies are doing?

CLOSING THE FUCKING LOOPHOLES!

For example, physician owned labs are being phased out due to abuse. Doctors would urine screen every patient monthly, rather than random or via risk stratification. For this reason, the practices like ours who do have a random policy will be killed in the process. But they are STILL CLOSING THE LOOPHOLES.
