Double Fine Raises $700,000 In 24 Hours With Crowdfunding

Mursk Re:My dreams just came true! (112 comments)

You are my new best friend.

As much as I love Psychonauts, after playing through Brutal Legend twice, I would pass up a Psychonauts sequel in favor of a BL2. The game got a lot of criticism for certain gameplay elements, but those didn't bother me (I thought the combat system was pretty cool), and the world just left me wanting more. Too bad so many people hated it.

Crab Robot Helps Remove Stomach Cancer

Mursk Re:Wow... (83 comments)

Then, once the stomach cancer robots get rid of the crabs, we simply release wave after wave of Chinese needle snakes. They'll wipe out the cancer robots.

Crab Robot Helps Remove Stomach Cancer

Mursk Re:That is not a robot (83 comments)

Yeah, as much as I want to back up the Heinlein reference, I'm not sure it's that black and white.

PS4: What Sony Should and Shouldn't Do

Mursk Re:keyboard and mouse (406 comments)

I would love to be able to use a DualShock/mouse hybrid control scheme for Skyrim. It might be a little awkward, but I was considering the Move Navigation controller for this (the one that's basically a reduced DualShock meant to be held in one hand). Not sure how well it would work out, but I really miss a mouse while trying to aim my bow/magic (but really only during those times).

There are peripherals (Eagle Eye, or something) that allow using your mouse/keyboard with PS3 games that don't normally support them, but I'm not sure how well it would work (especially since I want a hybrid), so I'm not willing to shell out $50 (plus whatever the navigation controller costs) to figure it out. But there are options out there for those who would want to do this.

As to why I don't just play on the PC in the first place, it's just personal preference. I recognize the PC is superior in some ways, but I prefer the PS3 for most of my gaming.

Nintendo Pulls Dead Or Alive Over Porn Fears In EU

Mursk Re:Norway isn't a member of the EU. (350 comments)

Often, in describing video game release dates for various regions, you will see JP, EU, US, AU, etc. In fact, for the very game this article discusses:

It may not be "officially" correct, but it's certainly not unheard of.

Smithsonian Unveils 'Art of Games' Voting Results

Mursk Re:Excellent list. (183 comments)

Yeah, that's why I described it as a decent list above. It's leaving out some games that at least some people will feel obviously belong there, but it also includes quite a few that are normally overlooked. Overall, it's not bad.

Smithsonian Unveils 'Art of Games' Voting Results

Mursk Re:Decent List (183 comments)

Yeah, that was one of the ones I didn't agree with. But anyone who's ever paid attention to the yearly character content polls at GameFAQs would have predicted it. Legend of Zelda or Mario will always win when they are an option.

Mursk Decent List (183 comments)

Nice to see Brutal Legend on there. Suprised to see E.T. nominated. :) And Secret of Monkey Island is there under "Additional Games," at least.

I last bought 3.5" floppy disks ...

If you started with "100 hundred" and only have 99 left, I'd say you made the right choice.

I don't know about you, but when I hear the phrase "fatal flaw," I really expect something a little more, I don't know... hilarious.

Crytek Thinks Free Game Demos Will Soon Be Extinct

Mursk Re:This will insure.. (379 comments)

Can be argued either way:

According to Associated Press style, to "ensure" that something happens is to make certain that it does, and to "insure" is to issue an insurance policy. Other authorities, however, consider "ensure" and "insure" interchangeable. To please conservatives, make the distinction. However, it is worth noting that in older usage these spellings were not clearly distinguished.

Battlefield Earth Screenwriter Accepts Razzie

Mursk Re:Why? (295 comments)

I think you missed his point. As I read it, he's not talking about the radioactive material itself decaying, but the effects of the radiation on the other components of the bomb over time. I don't know enough about it to say either way, but I agree that after 1000 years the uranium/plutonium would likely be the least of your worries in terms of functionality.

Distance, in multiples of my height, from my birthplace:

Mursk Re:A really absurd set of options (465 comments)

According to my calculations... I'm over 5 million multiples of my height (so what is that in Libraries of Congress?) from my place of birth. Maybe we were born in/live in the same place, but I'm just a bit shorter. :)
