Investors Value Yahoo's Core Business At Less Than $0

NotDrWho Yeah, but their CEO has a vagina!! (149 comments)

So she MUST be a great leader, who's going to revitalize the company and make them profitable and hip! It couldn't just be hype, that's unpossible!

Mercedes Pooh-Poohs Tesla, Says It Has "Limited Potential"

NotDrWho Re:Yeah? (348 comments)

But I know, Slashdotters need to tilt at windmills endlessly... if Tesla were to ever catch on and be as common as Kia we'd see the discussion switch to how they're shit and some other startup has vision and Tesla is going to wilt and die any day now...

Man, I was really into that band back before they went all commercial and mainstream. IT USED TO BE ABOUT THE MUSIC, UBUNTU!!!

Plant Breeders Release 'Open Source Seeds'

NotDrWho Re:Shame this happened (136 comments)

Last time I checked, no one was forcing you to grown Monsanto seeds or use Round-up. Feel free to plant whatever you want. But if you want to use Monsanto's seeds and spray your crops with their Round-up, yeah, you're going to have to pay them for it.

Linux Voice is a New Magazine for Linux Users — On Paper (Video)

NotDrWho Re:useful given my recent experience with the linu (65 comments)

I still don't understand why they're so hell-bent on eliminating the ability to follow older discussion threads in the comments section. Am I missing something? Is taking away our ability to see replies to our old comments somehow such a vital fucking part of Dice's new marketing strategy that it must be defended with their very lives if necessary?

Student Records Kids Who Bully Him, Then Gets Threatened With Wiretapping Charge

NotDrWho Re:Rewarding the bullies... (790 comments)

Not nearly as much as it would have if this kid had posted the actual audio of it on YouTube and it had played on every evening news broadcast in the U.S.

Retired SCOTUS Justice Wants To 'Fix' the Second Amendment

I want chocolate milk to spew forth from all the water fountains at work. And my dream has a much better chance of becoming reality than Stevens' dream.

Ubisoft Hands Out Nexus 7 Tablets At a Game's Press Event

NotDrWho Re:More Shocking... (43 comments)

I am much more concerned about the conflict of interest of these magazines/sites having advertising from these same game developers as their primary source of income. If you think you're going to get an honest review for a game on a site who gets a lot of money from selling ads for said game, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

Student Records Kids Who Bully Him, Then Gets Threatened With Wiretapping Charge

NotDrWho Re:Rewarding the bullies... (790 comments)

They would rather have a news story about the arrest than the recording itself going viral. As a poster above noted, this poor kid and his parents were naive for not making a copy (and for trusting school officials to act in anyone's interest but their own).

Student Records Kids Who Bully Him, Then Gets Threatened With Wiretapping Charge

NotDrWho Re:Rewarding the bullies... (790 comments)

The problem wasn't taken care of because the first priority of schools officials isn't to protect the students, it's to protect the school (and their jobs). They wanted the recording deleted before it could get out and embarrass them. The police just helped them.

NotDrWho Cue NSA infilatration in 3...2.... (170 comments)

May want to keep an eye out in the development community of the OS for a sudden influx of programmers "just wanting to help out." Or existing members suddenly driving new sports cars and acting strange.

Paper Microscope Magnifies Objects 2100 Times and Costs Less Than $1

NotDrWho Re:Hacks (89 comments)

It is literally 200 times cheaper than an equal performance educational microscope.

That educational microscope is designed to last 200 times as long and be 200 times more versatile.

The Security of Popular Programming Languages

NotDrWho Re:python?! (188 comments)

It's the hip and cool language. If you owned vinyl records and were a vegan, like me, you would know that. But then again, I don't even *OWN* a TV and I was into that band way before they became all commercial. So I can't expect the rest of you to understand.

Netflix Gets What It Pays For: Comcast Streaming Speeds Skyrocket

NotDrWho Re:Seriously (324 comments)

Max DSL speed here is 3 mbps, not even fast enough to do HD streaming. Not that I wouldn't use the great Comcast anyway of course! My only real complaint about them is [this post censored for content by Comcast social media decorum services. This is your 2nd strike warning, customer.]
