Best Practice For Retiring RSS Feeds?

Orig_Club_Soda Reuse your old feeds (71 comments)

You are losing valuable mind share by retiring feeds. If you have reoccurring events, they should use the same feed as the prior event promote the new event to an established mind share.

Add a proximity radar and a 10 foot radius shield on a pool cleaner type arm. Using some basic hydraulics they could position the shield between the station and oncoming objects.

First Solar Eclipse Recorded From Moon

Orig_Club_Soda Re:Ordinary (123 comments)

Actually, I wasn't thinking about the full moon, I was thinking about the one day a month when there is no moon because the sun's rays are some how blocked.

NASA Contest To Name ISS Module

Orig_Club_Soda Re:Serenity Now! (197 comments)

The whole scoring system is out of whack. If you don't say something people agree with, they label you a troll. You also have to be a Democrat; Libertarians get no love. I am going to get a minus 1 just for posting this comment if Slash lets me post at all.

I vote for "Serenity."

The Art of The Farewell Email

Orig_Club_Soda The losing a baby complaaint is illogical (703 comments)

THis is common problem with people - they cannot separate their personal life form work. Whether or not this lady lost her baby is irrelevant to the economic health of the company. We don't let companies dictate when we can have our babies, therefore letting your baby dictate when you can be let go is a fallacy.

The Role of Experts In Wikipedia

Orig_Club_Soda BS (266 comments)

So we are going to have "experts" who aren't necessarily right or factual, but they have a rubber stamp on their ass by the "system". History is interpretation. Science interpretation. Politics is cover-up. Its all subjective.

Researchers Warn of Possible BitTorrent Meltdown

Orig_Club_Soda Who Cares? (294 comments)

Most of torrent material is piracy as it is. Sites like, CW, Amazon, Netflix and even Apple iTunes Store are making media easy to obtain. There is no need to support torrent as a vidio-audio media delivery system is you aren't a thief.

Firefox Exec Says Windows Bundling Is a Bad Idea

Orig_Club_Soda Re:why you hating monopolies (413 comments)

Just because something is a monopoly doesn't make it bad. Democrats have a majority monopoly of the House, Senate, Executive branch and Supreme Court. Are you saying Democrat ideology is bad? Nationalized health care would also be a monopoly... A monopoly is bad only when it fails to address the needs it serves. Not just because it exists.

Senate Approves 4-Month Delay In Digital TV Switch

Orig_Club_Soda BLurb is inaccurate (438 comments)

"coupons, available from the government to offset the cost of a $40 converter box" ... that is not correct. Converter boxes are a variety of brices, not $40. The coupon is worth $40. Additionally, the people running this thing have determined that the people selling the boxes are jacking up the price in addition to the $40 coupon - because of the coupon. (More or less proving the coupon is not necessary)

Dell Closes Ireland Plant; 2nd Largest Employer

Orig_Club_Soda lol u go socisim :P (494 comments)

from wikipedia "The national minimum wage is 8.65 per hour for full time staff over the age of 18 -- this is one of the highest in the world. From 2007, someone working 39 hours per week at this rate is exempt from income tax, as earned income below 17,600.00 per year is not taxed."

also "State provided old age pensions are also relatively generous in Ireland. The maximum weekly rate for the State Pension (Contributory) is 223.30 for a single pensioner aged between 66 and 80 (423.30 for a pensioner couple in the same age range).[45] The maximum weekly rate for the State Pension (Non-Contributory) is 212.00 for a single pensioner aged between 66 and 80 (352.10 for a pensioner couple in the same age range).[46]"

Its a simple equation: artificially high wages, benefits, and taxation equals bye bye jobs

Save the TV-less from the transition to digital tv

Orig_Club_Soda Orig_Club_Soda writes  |  more than 5 years ago

Orig_Club_Soda (983823) writes "It is estimated that 6.5 million people are not ready for the digital TV transition. That's 0.02% of the entire US population. Even though these are probably the small fraction of American's who lives do not revolve around TV, maybe we can help. The to delay the transition will probably cost at least 10 million dollars for each of those 6.5million people!!!

Someone set them up the converter! I bet through grassroots charity would could buy them a converter in a matter of days. And the cost would be less than $1 million. How does one go about setting that up?"

Slashdot's comment delay is too long

Orig_Club_Soda Orig_Club_Soda writes  |  more than 5 years ago

"Slashdot requires you to wait between each successful posting of a comment to allow everyone a fair chance at posting a comment.

It's been 21 minutes since you last successfully posted a comment

21 minutes! What happened to 4 minutes or whatever"

I dont know if this attached to karma or what but the karma tool is retarded too. I have bad karma because people disagree with me, not because my comments are poor quality.

steam punk keyboard

Orig_Club_Soda Orig_Club_Soda writes  |  more than 6 years ago

I am interested in creating a steam punk USB keyboard from an old typewriter. (Then a monitor to create a similar set-up as seen in the movie Brazil.)

I am a newbie to this and would appreciate any tips, links, to get started. Do I deconstruct a working keyboard first? Or do I need to start from scratch?
