Toyota Partners With Tesla To Make Electric Cars

Ozric I think the Volt is a Better Design (327 comments)

The Volt is more akin to a diesel electric locomotive. It costs more but in the long run I think it's the way to go. Time will tell.

Permanent Undersea Homes Soon; Temporary Ones Now

Ozric Re:Good luck calling 911 (122 comments)

The only difference between "crackpot" and "visionary" is the degree of of appeal the crack/vision holds for you.

I am with ya, a few years ago I stated that people would at some point, start living under the water due to cosmic rays and solar radiation concerns. People thought I was a crack pot for suggesting it, I still stand by my statements and think it is a valid line of research.

Crack pot or no, think of the view from your porch.

Do as the Romans did. They Knew that War should pay for itself. After you win you TAX the shit out of the loser. This is also a great deterrent.

Ozric Re:Taxes are already paid. (577 comments)

Allowing anyone to obtain money only as long as a problem exists is the surest way to assure it will always exist.

Ahh.... I see you have a good understanding of IT consulting.

A Warming Planet Can Mean More Snow

Ozric Re:Science or Religion? (1136 comments)

I call bullshit!

That CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and its increased concentration does lead to overall increase in average temperature.

There is no such thing as a greenhouse gas! There are gases that cause a greenhouse effect! CO2 is not even the worst, water vapor is!

Until you get that right, I have no time for you. The normal state of the Universe is Freaking COLD, I for one would rather be warm. There are more reports out that say LIFE will improve with a little warming. So I for one say bring it on, Let the third world have some cheap energy by burning coal and oil. Would you have them suffer with no standard of living increase by charging them for "Green Tech" they can not afford and we should not have to pay for? We can save more people by giving them POWER and WATER then by NOT. NOW who is the HATER?? you freaking AGW nutcases that is who.

Lastly, even if it is TRUE, there is NOTHING you or the INDEED the WHOLE of the EARTH can do about it. DO you get THAT, NOTHING!

Feds Push For Warrantless Cell Phone Tracking

Ozric Re:Well, in fairness (400 comments)

Should you now be subject to have your possessions searched while the claim you're a drug-dealing prostitute for a half hour because you obviously weren't supposed to be on THAT public street?

I have a question for you.....
Does the "drug-dealing prostitute" need to be subjected to that type of treatment any more or less then you do?

Testing Network Changes When No Test Labs Exist?

Ozric Re:Pretty simple, really (164 comments)

A very wise Network Admin once told me.

Wisdom comes from experience. Experience comes from mistakes.

So, you see most of us wise administrators got our experience somewhere else, if you know what I mean.

wink wink, nudge, nudge.

Intel's New Atom D510 Benchmark Tested

Ozric Re:It's an admission (86 comments)

The very existence of netbooks and nettops are an admission by the entire industry that the majority of tasks performed by computers these days are served well enough by a "Pentium III", perhaps with the addition of a better GPU than existed back then..

I agree 100% the problem is Code Bloat and no optimization.

Pigeon Protocol Finds a Practical Purpose

Ozric that is funny (113 comments)

We use to always compare TCP/IP packets to pidgeons.. ..
The joke was send more pidgeons and stop routing them over the pond where the duck hunters are.

Brings to mind the old expression, never underestimate the bandwidth of a truck load of DLT tapes going 55mph.
Or the recover plan of "TOPS" ..... Tapes on Planes

YMMV

Ozric A study for this? (386 comments)

Wow what a shocker... People who meditate do so to focus on ONE point and keep that focus for as long as possible.
Everyone knows that a core problem with people is a lack of focus.... OH Look a Quarter!!! Anyway, where was I?
Oh yes, the lack of attention and focus, And just how much did this study cost us?
