The Best Parking Apps You've Never Heard Of and Why You Haven't

P-niiice Our money is wheat for the reaping (163 comments)

So now I need an app to help me park with as little butthurt as possible. It could be that people haven't realized how thoroughtly nickle-and-dimed our lives have become. It's pretty sad. Any everytime I try and think of something sadder, its already been done.

IPCC's "Darkest Yet" Climate Report Warns of Food, Water Shortages

P-niiice Re:What about the inherent bias? (703 comments)

That's not science, it's policy. We can't get going on policy until we at least resolve that something is wrong.

Ask Slashdot: Suggestions For a Simple Media Server?

P-niiice Re: UMS (420 comments)

SMB streams 1080P stuff fine across my network, as long as I'm close to the router. 720P is damn good anywhere in the house. Been doing it for a long time, most lately on my Nexus 7 and my GBox MX2.

AT&T Introduces "Sponsored Data" Allowing Services to Bypass 4G Data Caps

P-niiice Sprint (229 comments)

What bothers me is the additional revenue this will generate for AT&T may entice Sprint to go the same route by ending unlimited LTE and going to caps and metering. It's just another enticement. I'm digging my Sprint service just as it is.

The Hobbit and Game of Thrones Top Most Pirated Lists of 2013

P-niiice Re:Clearly losing money? (193 comments)

Piracy may have added more revenue than was 'lost' by the download. You'll never see the real numbers though to know either way or the other.

Former Head of NSA Calls For Obama To Reject NSA Commission Recommendations

P-niiice Re:Failure polls well?!? (316 comments)

And that's why I don't have the balls to be President. Personally, I think the solution is keep the capability but somehow rigidly enforce a real, transparent review process. Demonizing Bush and Obama isn't helping here. We should be more mature than that. We should be fixing the problem.

Ulbricht Admits Seized Bitcoins Are His and Wants Them Back

P-niiice Yeah.... (243 comments)

I'm pretty sure I would have kept my mouth shut. The worst thing you can do is make it easier for the feds. But who knows, I've never been arrested on those charges and had a shitton of bitcoins seized.

Is Computer Science Education Racist and Sexist?

P-niiice Re: Is Computer Science Education Racist and Sexis (612 comments)

To my wife, anyone who speaks spanish is Mexican. To her Mother, anyone who speaks Spanish is Spanish. My wife accepts correction when necessary, but after a long life of messing it up, I don't bother with my Mother-in-law.

Huge Pool of Ice-Free Water Discovered Under Greenland Ice

P-niiice Re:Hmm (135 comments)

Scientists wonder a lot of things. That's the point of science. Fortunately the state of tech has advanced significantly since then, and they can wonder about things closer to current reality. Also, speculating about earth without greenhouse gases is pointless - we'd not exist if earth had no greenhouse gases. There's a balance/cycle of balances and the question is how far off we've hosed up the balance.

Multivitamin Researchers Say 'Case Is Closed' As Studies Find No Health Benefits

P-niiice Re:supplementing the diet of well-nourished adults (554 comments)

I've had bariatric surgery, and I don't get enough nutrients through the minute amounts of food I eat daily - think in the range of 500 calories or so, pure protien and some fiber/veggies. Multivitamins (plus additional vitamins) have kept me from dying, and will do so for the rest of my life.

In a news story, the NSA would look good simply by breaking Tor....no need to make shit up. Tor is already a den of drugs and child porn to 99% of the .2% who know anything about it.

US Light Bulb Phase-Out's Next Step Begins Next Month

P-niiice Re:Seriously? (1146 comments)

I understand your post, but if you're relying on a light bulb to heat your house, you're doing something wrong.... or you sleep with the lights on, which is still doing it wrong. So, in summary, you're doing something wrong.
