Farmers Carry Multidrug-Resistant Staph For Weeks Into Local Communities

Quato What do you expect (122 comments)

Well they feed the livestock Tetracycline by the shovel full. Of course, a person that needs the drug has to pay at least 10000% more and can't afford to go see their doctor unless they have insurance. Lucky pigs.

Isn't that a fairly racist term? I thought the prefered nomenclature is Inuit or Aleut.

Panda Poo Yields Key To Cheaper Biofuels

Quato Water? (113 comments)

I thought the big problem right now was not the availability of simple sugars, but the fact that it takes a quite a few gallons of water to make one gallon of ethanol.
I know that people do all sorts of bullshit inflation of the number of gallons of water, where they factor in the irrigation of the crops and all, but it still takes a lot of water to make those simple sugars into ethanol.
Yet, this magical Panda Poo enzyme might come in handy since it can turn inedible plant matter to humans into fuel. Say we turn in the corn stalks, or the enourmous amount of leaves collected every Fall into fuel. Maybe someday there won't be famines, we can ship all our excess grain to the hungry with the power of Panda Poo!

You can see why the Founding Fathers included it in the Bill of Rights.

Hillary Clinton Takes Overseas

Quato Social Security..... (250 comments)

I'm a US citizen, and I firmly believe the gov't will piss away all my Social Security 'savings' before I hit retirement age. I'm in my mid-thirties and most of my friends feel the same way.
I think it's screwed up that foreign workers have to pay into a retirement system they will never see a nickle from. I also think young people today paying into a system that we have no faith in is screwed up. It should be an optional system.

I tried this years ago with RFC 1149. I had to abandon my project, the smell of delicious smoked meat attracted hawks, which kept catching all the pigeons.

$500,000 Worth of Bitcoins Stolen

Quato Got to be a fake (622 comments)

Why would you keep that type of cash in bitcoin? Anyone with half a brain would at least put that kind of money in a savings account to get interest. I think it's a hoax.
The only reason I can think of is if you are running a business and want to dodge taxes. It'd also be a good way to hide money from say, selling drugs.
On a side note, I believe it is still illegal to make your own currency in the US. I don't see the government spending too many man hours solving this. If the claim is real, I think that person will never see that cash again.

Patented Gestures Detailed

Quato This just proves patent laws are a joke (87 comments)

Nobody wants to see the guy who invents the better mousetrap lose his ability to make money. At the same time you donâ(TM)t want corporate lawyers to bend patent laws to give their corporations unfair advantages.
Patent laws are a joke. This is just the weekly posting on some completely ridiculous thing that has passed as a patent. These types of patents only helps companies squash their competitors. Itâ(TM)s a shitty group of laws that people can bend to monopolize a marketplace. Unfortunately the people with the money influence who makes and reforms the laws, so expect more outrageous patent attempts and successful filings.

Spain To Clamp Down On File Sharers

Quato They'll never expect (76 comments)

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four* *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.
[The Inquisition exits]
Chapman: I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition!

I question naming the project Icarus... maybe you don't want to pick a guy who fell to his death for trying to fly too high.
I mean, isn't Icarus associated with failed ambitions?

Novell Completes Sale

Quato Re:So Long Novell (202 comments)

Why did you replace?
Why didn't you revert to Netware?

The word came down from management that Exchange/Outlook was going to be the way of the future. So we needed a domain server, a Exchange server and a couple of file servers. Of course our Novell server did this all in one machine, and did it a hell of a lot faster.
Novell didn't go out of style because of poor design, it went out of style because Microsoft put more advertising out and convinced more users in upper management that it was the best thing out there.
All of a sudden there was this if it isn't 'Windows on Intel it's crap mentatlity' that made Microsoft what it is.

Quato So Long Novell (202 comments)

I'll fondly remember our Novell 3.x server that we didn't reboot for two years. We replaced it with about four NT servers that needed constant attention.
