Plan 9 From Bell Labs Operating System Now Available Under GPLv2

Reservoir Penguin Re:Dead end (223 comments)

Systemd is the last nail in the coffin for Linux, I'm switching to *BSD> The problem with Linux I think is that unlike the BSDs it never head any real UNIX roots. It started from scratch as a UNIX-like hack in Linuse's basement, stuck with following UNIX for awhile and now it's just becoming Windows-like.

FSF's Richard Stallman Calls LLVM a 'Terrible Setback'

Reservoir Penguin Re:GPL and BSD give uses the same freedoms (1098 comments)

You idea if a "market success" is to sell me a binary without source. So I will be stuck depending on your crappy expensive support and early upgrade cycle (if I want any bugs fixed, as you will surely roll bug fixes into commercial upgrades). This is a problem I have, as a user, with non GPL code.

Hasn't this been debunked repeatedly. High-tax social welfare are among the most unhappy both subjectively and by suicide rates and people in places like Bangladesh rate among the happiest?

They seem idyllic, but if you dig around there is tons of evidence of abuse in Amish communities and God knows how much is swept under the rug.

Reservoir Penguin Re:USENET? (534 comments)

They should at least get their kids a C64 or ZX-Spectrum, they were common and would not ruin their weird role-playing game.

The real reason was back then Minix was under a license that did not allow patches to merged into the OS, they had to be distributed separately.
