For writing some translation code in C that did in seconds what took us hours to do manually. That was pretty cool.

The Golden Gate Barrage: New Ideas To Counter Sea Level Rise

STRICQ Re:Or... (341 comments)

It's mostly subsiding, far more than eroding. There is no appreciable sea level rise that anyone should be worried about in the next few centuries. Assuming it continues.

The Golden Gate Barrage: New Ideas To Counter Sea Level Rise

STRICQ Re:Or... (341 comments)

You are aware, of course, that the rise has been slowing over the past century, right? Of course you are. It would take how many hundreds of years for it to rise even 1 meter? That's assuming the rise will continue, which it probably won't.

How Climate Scientists Parallel Early Atomic Scientists

STRICQ Re:Honesty? (440 comments)

Repost that without the lies and you'd have an empty post. I see why you post as an AC.

Seriously, every statement you made there was an outright lie. Including the "No warming for 17 years" lie. Current temperatures are will withing the 95% confidence limits of the AR4 model assemblage.

O!M!G! I know there are people out there that will believe anything without looking at the facts. But you sir, you take the cake. Your post is the most hilarious thing I've seen in months! Thank you.

Is There Still a Ray of Hope On Climate Change?

STRICQ Re:Now see, This is why you are a boob (462 comments)

The thing only a few have pointed out is that the "on record" part is factually wrong. Records were kept in the 1930s and it was far hotter then. The number of high temperature records broken since 2000 is a drop in the bucket compared to how many high temperature records were broken in the 1930s. These records still stand today.

Asking Slashdot: Converting an SUV Into an Hybrid Diesel-Electric?

STRICQ You Can't (543 comments)

Upon completion of the conversion, the SUV would promptly run into the nearest building or off the nearest cliff at high speed. I know this is true from all the media stories with headlines like, "SUV Runs Off Road, Crashes Into Building." Because, as all reporters know, SUVs are sentient and evil.
